The place was busy so we thought we were about to get a great meal. It was a weeknight. We had never been there before. We opted to eat at the bar so we wouldn’t have to wait so long. We ordered water then looked at the menu. The bartender was of course busy as well. We finally placed our order and also asked for 2 house margaritas. It took a while to get our food, but ok. It became clear that our drink order had been forgotten when the bartender asked if we wanted water refills. I reminded him of our drink order and he apologized, brought them to us quickly then our food arrived. Birria tacos and crispy tacos. The birria tacos were soggy and the beef had grease dripping from the crispy tacos. The refried beans tasted good. The rice had a strange texture, like maybe it was old and drying out. I ate the beef tacos from the top down, leaving the meat. Beans are not usually my favorite but I ate a few bites of them since the rice was inedible. The center of the birria tacos was dug out and about half of that was eaten along with the beans. Even the margaritas tasted like Jose Quervo mix, sickly sweet. It was all very disappointing. The bartender comped our margaritas since they had been forgotten. That was very nice. He asked if we wanted to go boxes with most of the food being left on our plates. No, thank you. He looked at us for a long moment, maybe not understanding why. So I explained that we didn’t care for the food and he asked what was wrong. I told him and he said he would take care of it. He comped one meal and we again thought that was very nice. We never asked. He apologized and was very kind to us. We were sure to tip him but we were very disappointed with a terrible meal and drinks. I hope it was a one off because I am still confused how the place could be so busy with such bad food. Oh well…we will just find somewhere else to go.
