We had such a great experience at Mexican Cantina in Panglao! After days of diving its was the perfect spot to switch things up with flavorful, authentic Mexican food.
The taquitos were fresh and packed with flavor, the portions were generous, and the margaritas were on point. You can tell they care about quality and seasoning — everything tasted homemade. The salsa had just the right kick, and the chips were perfectly crisp.
The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, great for couples or a group of friends. Staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome.
If you’re in Panglao and craving something different from the usual beach fare, this place absolutely hits the spot. We’d definitely come back!

I was extremely surprised how good the shredded pork tacos were, and the tortillas used for the tacos so perfect. The hot sauce and medium sauce were on the spot perfect. We also have the quesadilla which was the best I’ve had in the Philippines and of course the tortilla used was perfect. Totality recommend Mexican Cantina and will be my go to place for good Mexican food!! My new happy place now.

I visited earlier today.
Since it’s an outdoor restaurant, it was extremely hot and dusty.
You can’t really compare the taste to actual local Mexican food; it’s just a place where you can get a bit of the vibe. The quesadilla was very thin with too little filling, which was disappointing. The outer dough of the chimichanga had an overwhelming flour taste, so I ended up eating only the inside.
Overall, the food was average, and
what disappointed me the most was the unfriendly service.
The staff member was expressionless while taking my order,
and when I said “Thank you” in Tagalog as I received the food, there was no response.
They were just on their phone at the counter,
and when I paid 1,315 pesos, I gave 1,325 pesos because I needed a 10-peso coin.
But when I waited for my change, they pretended not to notice.
So I just left the change, smiled, and walked out.
10 pesos is a small amount of money, but the way this experience made me feel is anything but small.
A restaurant where a little more kindness, hospitality, and honesty is needed.

I’m just mind blown by the taste, very authentic even though we are in the Philippines. I tasted the taquitos, quesadillas and the chimichangas. They were awesome. The spicy sauces they provide are also very good, you can feel the peppers. The staff is also very friendly. I recommend 10/10.

A small vibey Mexican restaurant 3 minutes drive from Alona beach. I ordered the taquitos which were really really delicious, and for a big guy, a generous portion, and was just the right amount for me. The staff were just lovely with big smiles and its obvious they love what they do. I highly reccommend to anybody thats in Panglao, its worth it! Ill be returning myself tonight!!!

Don’t bother looking at other menus; the Taco + San Miguel combo is the essential experience for your Bohol trip. Great ambiance and super friendly staff. Go twice!

The owner was super friendly and he was super chill! He gave time to explain to us the menu and he never rushed us!
He was super helpful and was totally hands-on. The burritos were #1.. esp ially with the hot sauces. There was no spice, medium spice and XXX. They were the deal makers. Please ask for the hot sauce because the burrito goes from a 8/10 to a 15/10
The tacos were also tasty and the sauce given to us was very generous in serving amount.

the taste of the food was average and the prices are reasonable ! they just have a small menu ! drinks are cheap maybe thats why many young guests (i guess bagpackers or a kind of woke community been there) they had a sign on the table that for each review in google they give a free souvenir beer cosy (beerholder) ! so i was asking for this small free gift but the waitress said “out of stock” ! seems the owner was american so he should remove this signs from the tables if they don’t have what they promise ! Anyway the owner is nice and reacted to my review and offered the beer cosy next time ps. hope next time they will have some bread as side order for the chilli con carne i ordered ! sure i will pay for it but last time they told me no bread available.

We found this place on our first night and ended up coming here for the next 4. Great tacos, tacquitos etc and really nice staff.
Beer is cheap and always very cold! Highly recommend for a few drinks and bite.
