Food was wonderful. My husband had the meatloaf dinner (which our waitress said was one of the dishes that was highlighted on Diners, DriveIns and Dives when Guy visited Metro Diner). I had the chicken salad croissant and a side salad. The salad had the most unusual “croutons” so I asked our waitress and she said they were actually fire roasted tomatoes, they were amazing.
Our waitress was so friendly, she told us about the daily specials, made sure our drinks were full and continually asking if we needed anything.

This restaurant was awesome what a great selection of food. We had Breakfast for one in our group, fish for another cheese grits are awesome, Philly cheese steak for another, and teriyaki salmon everything was awesome then the cinnamon apple bread pudding was excellent. Be sure and ask for waitress Tory she was the absolute best.

What a great place to enjoy a delicious breakfast! I haven’t been in some time but man I will be back soon. I enjoyed the Avocado Egg and hash browns bowl. The coffee is delicious and plentiful. No wait time and the service is excellent! Thank you Ms Sam. Super lady. The French toast are thick and delicious. Bacon is perfectly cooked. Metro is a fan favorite with lots of regular fans. Enjoy.

My son and I had the time of our lives here! Beautiful energetic atmosphere, all of the staff was kind, helpful, friendly, and timely and our waitress was amazing and patient with us! The whole menu is amazing, the burgers are delicious! The food is hot and fresh, the chicken and waffles are literally out of this world with taste and presentation! Onion rings and fries are amazing, definitely need to go again to try all of the things I want to try! My son’s official place to go out to eat at! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Let’s talk about KYLE! The food indeed is incredible, but the host sets the atmosphere and that is KYLE! KYLE (and yes I’m shouting his name) was so gracious and hospitable. His greeting, fast service, and food recommendations showed us that he wanted to ensure that we were served well and comfortable. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Somebody give this man a gold star and raise his pay! Frame a picture of him and put it on the wall! Oh…the chicken and waffles with the strawberry butter is to die for! Ask KYLE about the maple syrup and hotsauce concoction to dip the chicken in. OMG

This is one of my favorite spots in Gainesville for a cozy meal that feels like home. Whether it’s a post game day brunch or fuel for a long study session, I know I can always count on Metro to set me up for a great day.
Working in the service industry, I have to applaud the team work, attentiveness, and enthusiasm that comes from this whole team. I’ve had excellent service every time I’ve visited – even at peak times when there’s a line out the door. Just a note: if you come on a Sunday (after a game day or after Church), it WILL be busy, but they will still have great service and food comes out quick. Have some grace and patience for a team that is working hard to get you your meals as soon as possible. Don’t be a Karen 🙂

The food is always excellent. I tend to get the same thing every time – the steak frites – and the consistency of that kitchen is amazing. It’s always delicious and always medium rare how I request it. There’s not a bad meal on the menu and I highly recommend the chicken and waffles (with their strawberry butter) or any of their egg breakfasts!
I’ve been to two of the other locations in Tampa, and I have to say the Gainesville Metro is by far the best. Great spot for family weekend or a big breakfast after a late Saturday night in Midtown.

So this was stop #3 on my get-to-know Gainesville Breakfast spots tour, but it’s going to be hard to try anywhere else after eating at Metro Diner. As soon as I walked in I was seated at a nice two-top and soon after that was greeted by Sam who was as friendly as she could be and one of the best waitstaff I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with. She got my order quickly, I had the Bissell Breakfast, which I highly, highly recommend, and I had coffee before I knew it which never got less than half full before she was topping me off. Breakfast came out within 8 – 10 minutes of ordering, if that, and everything was cooked perfectly. Eggs just like I requested, home fries nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, sausage perfectly cooked, biscuit that was like Grandma used to make, and two sizable pancakes also perfectly cooked. Coffee just right as well and nice and hot!!! I
I’ll be back to Metro often, that I can promise, as the service was second-to-none, everyone I interacted with wished me a nice day, and all of the staff really seem to enjoy working there which is a sign, in my opinion, of a well run restaurant. Can’t wait to go back!

My mom and I share birthdays so we decided to go to Metro. I’ve never been there. I am so happy We went there. Our servers name was Kyle. I believe he will always remember us. By far, he was the best waiter we’ve ever had it on our birthdays or anywhere. We had breakfast food, dinner, food, and dessert desserts and everything was five star. Amazing. The restaurant is very very clean. It is not a long wait for your food. Personally, I will be going back there many times. A special shout out to our waiter. My mom was a little bit crazy but after all it was her birthday and mine. He went along with everything she threw at him lol. On our birthday, we always go to Italian restaurants or steakhouses. That came to an end because Metro diner has anything you want to eat and way better service. Take your family there and have a wonderful experience like we did.
