This is a fine dining experience right in Mesa Verde. The staff was on point and friendly. I was concerned about this prior to our visit because several reviews complained about the service. In fact, there was a great vibe from the waitstaff, and all of the customers’ visiting seemed pleased.
So why only three stars? The food had excellent presentation but lacked in flavor. The chicken was very dry. The short ribs were fatty but very tasty. The vegetable of the day was broccoli rabe, and it seemed to have an odd flavor, as though it was sprayed with some oil or something. It was mostly warm but not hot.
If you are looking for a sit-down meal at a comfortable table with air condition and spectacular scenery, you may like it here. Although we felt the food was ok, but not amazing. We did enjoy seeing a buck stop to enjoy his dinner right outside the restaurant.

The location is great, the view is wonderful, and the service was really good too. The food was alright, considering your limited options its probably the best option for the park. If you want a nice sit down dinner, for sure this is really the only option you have.

The Metate Room is great! The location is of course stunning, and the menu is a thoughtful mix of regional cuisine and standbys. I had the succotash and seasonal veggie (broccoli). Both were delicious and I had enough succotash leftover for breakfast. My server was very attentive. Overall, excellent experience and by far the best food in MVNP!

After an amazing day in the park, what better to end than a phenomenal meal with sweeping views. The food was outstanding, and our server, Javier, elevated our experience even more! Don’t miss this opportunity. You won’t regret it.

Based on the food and service received, there was no real value. The expensive food I received was a very small portion but the flavour was acceptable. We will not be back. The server tried but still was worse than an attendant at Chuckie Cheese. The restrooms at a McDonald’s are better suited than what was provided. The view, through the window, was amazing.

Please don’t complain about the cost of food here. Yes, it’s expensive, but it costs money to deliver goods here in the national park. I mean, you can drive way the heck out to the nearest town for dinner or bring your own food. It’s your choice.

1. We loved the food, ambience, and drinks so much that we came back the next evening.
2. The first time we came here, we shared the Ancient Grain Salad for an appetizer. The dressing is a sun-dried based. Very good. I’m picky about dressings, but this was delicious.
3. The sangria was not too sweet, but not too bitter either. It didn’t give me a headache the next morning like some sangrias do. They probably use the good wine here. Husband got the Gold Rush. Good drink!
4. The best braised short rib I’ve ever had. So tender, you didn’t need a knife. Husband had the ribeye. Cooked to his liking. We ate every single thing on our plate.
5. Second night I ordered the same dish. My husband got the the Ancient Salad again, but with chicken. Also ordered the Smoked Salmon Green Chili Mousse as an appetizer. It wasn’t fishy tasty and he ate the whole thing.
6. Got the donuts for dessert. It’s okay. Probably should’ve tried the chocolate truffle which we were going to order the second time, but we were stuffed.
7. The only thing I would recommend for this restaurant is to have bread service. Any kind of bread with soft butter would have been nice. We would have paid for the bread.

If you’re tired from hiking and sightseeing or you’re staying at the lodge, get a reservation and come here for dinner at least one night.

Great experience here, I went here when I was camping in the Mesa Verde National Park. I had tried to make reservations, but everyone I did the phone was busy and I could never get through to anyone, and reservations are *highly* recommended at this place. I decided to just go and try my luck, being only a party of one I can get in anywhere most of the time! That was the case with this place as well, other people were told they’d need to wait unit 9pm ( I was there at 7pm). They did warn me that I might have to wait a bit for service because there was only one waiter for the entire half of the restaurant that I was in. My waiter was named Brian and he did a fantastic job despite having way too many tables to serve. Now onto the food, the food was great, I had the soup of the day which was beef with green chilies, the braised short ribs, and the lemon tres leche cake. The soup was really well rounded with a great heat to it and the beef was super tender, it had potatoes and celery in it as well. The braised short ribs were tender and amazing, it came with smashed potatoes, and asparagus which were both also seasoned really nicely. The tres leche cake was fantastic, it was nicely sweet, but not too sweet to drown out the flavor of the lemon.

Beautiful restaurant ( hence 1 star) but a very disappointing experience and service.
Food lacked flavor, over baked chewy breads and just expensive for no reason.

We were told that they had just opened for the season and had issues hiring staff. We were ready to accommodate with the food delays but there were certain things we just could not tolerate .
We had a reservation for 7 pm but we were early so we decided to hang out at the bar upstairs. FYi the bar and this restaurant has the same drink menu. Bar tender was friendly and amazing. I had ordered Fireside and was nice.
We were seated in at 7 pm per our reservation at the restaurant.
Restaurant has a beautiful ambience and great view. Manager was sweet but something was very off with our server- super slow and did not care at all about serving people.

Our server took the order for food and drinks at 7:15 pm . It took 45 mins for our server to prepare two drinks. I had ordered prickly pear margarita and guess what it was Fireside. I confirmed with her if she got me the right drink and she confirmed the upstairs bar tender gave me the wrong drink.
We got our food an hour an half later at 8:30 pm and guess what the Pan seared Trout lacked flavor, the smoked salmon chili mouse had chewy bread . They were cold, tough and chewy to an extent they flew across another table. Only thing that was served hot was Mushroom Flatbread and it was nothing extraordinary. After all this we paid $85.

They should have informed us that they are running this late- 1 hr 30 mins or should have cancelled other reservations or at the max after taking this long should have served good food.

We came here for the views and they did not disappoint! After a long day of driving this was exactly what we needed to unwind.

The BEST part was the service. Our server was super friendly and gave us great recommendations for the area. He was amazing!

For being a restaurant within a National park, the food was good. If you’re vegetarian, they have great options as well. I went with the stuffed squash.

Highly recommend stopping by!

Being captive in the park, Aramark is adequate, but there’s nothing special here. The food is cafeteria quality, but if you pack a cooler, and can skip even 1 or 2 Aramark meals, you’re better off. The 2 exceptions are: 1) the short ribs were amazing, get that. 2) the ribeye was bad bad bad. Tougher than shoe leather, and they remade it for me and it was even worse. Skip the ribeye.
