Mestizo is a reflection of the Alvarado family’s roots and the traditions they hold dear. Originally from Mexico, the family spent years running restaurants back home before creating Mestizo in London—a place where they could share their culture and a taste of home. Placed on the King’s Road, Mestizo offers dishes close to their hearts and Mexican tradition, like the volcanic Molcajete bowl and Cuitlacoche (Mexican truffle). All made with recipes passed down through generations. The fresh tortillas, and vibrant salsas are a true celebration of the flavours of Mexico. Stepping into Mestizo feels like walking into a family gathering in Mexico. The warmth of the space invites you to make your own tacos, enjoy tequila or mezcal.

I came here with a friend for an early dinner, and making a reservation was an absolute breeze. From the moment we arrived, the experience was fantastic. The restaurant has a beautiful ambience that feels warm and vibrant — it really sets the tone for a great meal.
To start, we ordered the guacamole, which was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. We also enjoyed a classic margarita, which was beautifully prepared and balanced — refreshing and exactly what you want alongside great Mexican food. For our main, we tried the Mestizo specialty dish, and it absolutely delivered on flavor and authenticity.
We finished the evening with Irish coffees, which were freshly brewed and delicious — a perfect, cozy way to wrap up the meal.
I also want to highlight how well the restaurant is maintained — even the bathroom facilities were spotless, which always says a lot about the level of care a place puts into the overall guest experience.
A special shout-out to our server, Daniel, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. And a big thank you to the amazing manager, Cesar, who clearly runs a great operation and makes guests feel very welcome.
Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be coming back.

We had a table booked for a birthday celebration but were initially seated downstairs, which honestly felt more like an all-inclusive Egypt hotel than the vibe we expected. We raised it with the team and, to their credit, they handled it well and moved us to one of the best tables upstairs, which completely changed the experience.
Upstairs décor is great, the food was excellent, and the margaritas were fantastic. The sombrero shots were fun, though they came around a bit too often to feel truly special. Overall, a strong turnaround thanks to the staff, and we ended up having a really good night.

As a Tejana who has been living in India for the past year, I’ve been missing home. Was so happy to come here, have some food, drinks, and mariachis from home. The tamales and the salsas were so good! My friend got the lamb and it was amazing. And our server, Daniel, was such a sweetie. Really made our visit special. I highly recommend this place!

A lovely restaurant with helpful and friendly staff. As soon as we sat down, we were given tortilla chips with some beautiful dips and warm prawn soup, which warmed us up nicely on this cold winter’s day.

– Queso frito
All were tasty, but our table was overflowing as space was quite tight!
For mains, we chose:
– Mole poblano
– Enchiladas verde
– Enchiladas Cancún
– and more tacos!
As we hadn’t tried Mole before, our waiter suggested bringing us a small sample first, a fantastic gesture to enhance our experience.
Everything was delicious, rich, and clearly authentic. For dessert, I had my heart set on the tres leches cake, but unfortunately they had just served the last one. We opted for the baked cream cheese instead, which was not what I was expecting, but really nice and a pleasant surprise.
Note – there is a market shop opposite where you can get a small discount off the goods when you done at the restaurant – shame I only found out about this after I made a purchase!

No idea why it took me so long to try this place. Upon entry, there’s a very loud and vibey bar that leads to the main restaurant floor. Great atmosphere, delicious cocktails and very authentic yet contemporary Mexican cuisine. The starters were all incredibly tasty, the Taco tray was a highlight and the service by Damian and Canelo was extremely quick and faultless. Highly recommended.

One of the best food experiences in London. Very friendly staff from the moment we stepped in the restaurant. We were welcome with some sauces and tortillas on the house, followed by a broth. We ordered the Carnitas taco followed the waitress recommendation, it was delicious 10/10. We also had mixed malo enchiladas, very good as well.
We recommend that place and for sure we will be back.
