Mesquite Pit

Social Profile:

Wes and Robin Maynard started in the Restaurant business in 1988 in the small western town of Breckinridge, TX. After 4 years operating in Breckenridge they sold their shares of the business so they could move back home to Weatherford and open a place of their own. The plan was simple- offer great food and friendly service at reasonable prices, and do right by your employees and the community, and success will come to you. The doors to the Mesquite Pit opened in April of 1993 and we try to reach those goals everyday. So please, sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy a great meal with our family, and let us know if you need anything. Because after all, The Mesquite Pit, first and foremost, belongs to you!

A family-run restaurant serving BBQ fare, seafood & grilled steaks in a rustic setting.

Great Texas fare. If you want to experience how Texans love their food- this is it. The spacious, airy, “feel comfortable at home” the way Texans like it- atmosphere (love the stone fireplace that takes up a two sided wall) to friendly service, this makes for a satisfying meal out that sends you home happy with a full stomach. Pictured is the chicken fried steak option that is exactly what you want and expect for a comfort meal. Young Texas scurrying about (and working hard) to make sure you enjoy the food to the thirst quenching and pleasurable sweet tea- you can’t go wrong. Thank you Mesquite Pit for hot, savory bites that would take hours in the kitchen to make. Everything was just right!

The waitress was amazing, I would take a sip of water, look over and it had been refilled. Love that. Food was ok… but kind of a shame to serve that as “BBQ” in this great state of Texas. I would go for the service, I wouldn’t expect much from the food. However it is really beautiful decor inside the restaurant.

fruit flies in my drink. fast service. the breaded fried bacon was dissapointing. seemed flacid or raw on inside of breading. i asked for chicken well done, but it just looked like lightly microwaved chicken breaded.bacon on the club was good and crispy tho. queso tasted like velveeta. mashed taters seemed made from real potatoes. good fried pickles.

Attended a family reunion and the family was from Taiwan and they loved all the seafood and even the corn muffins! I had the grilled chicken breast that was awesome. Great place for a crowd!

Ate here on a date night with my husband and we both ended up having one of the best stakes we both had in a long time. We truly enjoyed it thank you.

Delicious food, great value and impeccable service. The sauce was a little sweet – but we are from NC where bbq is vinegar-based. The portions are Texas-sized with plenty leftover for later. For me the slaw was a co-star – so fresh, not soppy and the perfect mix of tangy and sweet.

First time I have ever been there. I will definitely be going back. The food was awesome. Our waitress Ashley was very sweet, very attentive and answered all my questions when I ask about how the food was prepped.

Long wait times for a Saturday at 5:30pm. While waiting for our food we saw a baby roach come out of the side of the wall. So the establishment has a infestation. The knives were dirty in the napkins. The tea was not sweetened or really watered down. The food came and was mediocre. my wife’s steak being well done when she asked medium. The server was ok but cared more for their regulars. three dollars for a sweet tea is highway robbery. We didn’t even finish our meal. we just got the check and left. Do not go here. It used be good now. It is run down and in need of a change in management.

4 of us went. The child hamburger was pretty good-sized. The chicken fried bacon was delicious. My wife had the chicken fried chicken and enjoyed it. My ribeye was undercooked. It had barely been cooked at all on one side. Our son had the shrimp, and he barely ate any of it. He was very disappointed in both it and the corn bread they served.
