Eating at the DFAC is like rolling the dice—you never know if you’re about to have a five-star meal or a science experiment gone wrong. The food will either bless your stomach or have you sprinting to the latrine like you’re in a 100m dash. No in-between. Those “healthy” options? Yeah, that salad has been sitting there since the Bush administration

I just want to start off by saying I gave it five stars because I’m reading it five stars compared to chow halls. I’m not comparing it to Burger King or Chili’s or your favorite burger joint. I’m comparing it to Chow halls because that’s what it is. If you’re comparing this to a three-star Michelin restaurant you’re lying to yourself.
Honestly this is an angry five star review cuz you guys are stupid. Get these guys some respect. I went in there and they were the most joyful energetic workers I’ve seen in quite some time at a chill hall. Very authentic and caring people.
Now, if we’re going to address food then what’s your talking about is the food that the Navy said they are supposed to put on the table. There’s no reason and even addressing it unless they cook the food wrong. Half the stuff you put in your mouth isn’t even cooked. You’ve got a salad fruit maybe some cake and then there’s things like bread some of it’s pre-made and then there’s meat and pasta. Pasta is not hard to make and they almost always get it right.

You are only allowed 2 entree choices and can’t get the same one, which if I’m laying for it then who are you to make that choice for me? Some staff are very nice, the morning staff and cashiers are always usually very nice. The afternoon staff are absolutely miserable and rude, I expected better with it being a joint base. The cashiers are always nice tho. Very disappointed in this place.

Good nutritious food for less than eating at any fast food restaurant off post! They do a good job taking care of the troops! I will be back as a veteran. Just my time there made me feel like someone again.

If you are TDY and paying cash there’s a game I play called mealsweeper. You try and get the food without paying $14 (like my friend did) watch the prices! Some single items are $7 a serving. If it’s low low priced also be careful because sometimes it’s re-reheated food. Add ketchup (which there is plenty of) it helps! It seems like there are a lot of big personalities at play. The managers seem to run an extremely tight ship. This is not the best approach and a few times I heard very heated verbal arguments. Very old school clashing with people who want their managers to care about/value them as a person. The white wearing people seem very nice and quick from begining to end and I can tell they care about what they do. I’m polite to them and most are in return. I have paid around $5 or less and felt like I had a good to decent meal. A lot of the food is bland on purpose, but some things are DELICIOUS. Stroganoff meatballs were my ATF. Soups are good, but salad is expensive. Snackline items are junk junk food. I had a double cheeseburger and fries both NOT good. The burger meat was awful. The grilled cheese was a winner though!

Went once for breakfast. Never returned.
Water based eggs, seemingly forgot to add the egg. Biscuit/gravy had a strange….straaaaannge flavor.
I’ve never had a poor breakfast experience at any other DoD facility.
Itemized checkout rang me to far more than what was reasonable if paying out of pocket with a 33% surcharge.
Can’t speak for lunch/dinner(hence a second star) but take your money and soul elsewhere for breakfast.

The food was great. On Sunday part of the cafeteria is closed so you have to work a little bit do be in there, but I say stop being lazy. Live oak has better seating so I recommend going there if it’s not Sunday and your not right next to mesquite inn.

Food is basic DFAC food. Nothing special and nothing too bad. Its not a 5 star resturaunt or anything but the food is not nasty either. The staff for the most part are friendly just a couple of rude people but that is really wherever you go.

As far as chow halls (dining facilities) go this one is pretty decent. It depends what’s on the menu of course. One time they had brisket and i was genuinely surprised that it was pretty juicy and tasty

Long wait times, sometimes not enough food, and roaches. You cannot come here without failing to see a roach at least once. This place needs serious attention.
