We were really disappointed with our experience. We came in expecting the quality of a nice resort restaurant, but everything felt mediocre at best. Quickly finding that the menu online did not match what they were serving.

The food was overly oily, and we had issues with consistency and communication. We specifically asked if the fries were tossed in anything and were told they were plain. When they arrived, they were clearly coated in something. Upon asking, one staff member said they were tossed in olive oil. When we requested a remake due to how soaked they were, they came back out with a different waitress saying, “All better—no garlic butter this time.” So we were given three different answers about the same side dish, which didn’t inspire confidence.

The salad was overdressed and oddly portioned—just a few arugula leaves piled on top of mostly tomatoes and pickled onions. I will say the steak was the one redeeming part of the meal—it was cooked well and tasted good.

Unfortunately, we also ordered the fish and chips sub tots, and like everything else, it was greasy and underwhelming.

No desserts stood out, and honestly, between the uncomfortably hot dining room and the less-than-friendly staff, we were just ready to leave.

To top it all off, our server couldn’t even answer questions about parking validation, which left us unsure if we were about to get stuck paying out of pocket for that too.

We celebrated my birthday at Meritage at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, and it was absolutely perfect. Evelyn and Travis took amazing care of our party of 11 (including 5 kids) and made everything feel effortless and special.

The enclosed patio was beautiful, the service was warm and attentive, and it was truly the ideal place to celebrate. We’ll definitely be back!

It was easy to book online a last minute dinner reservation. The overall service was really good. The music inside wasn’t too loud but outside it was. My husband and I shared an entree and they split it for us which was nice. The steak was perfect and the dip for our fries was so yummy. They have a good variety if drink options. This place is worth a try if you’re in the are.

This restaurant used to be very good. It’s gone down hill after Covid. The weather is nice in the high season and playing golf at the Palmer and Faldo courses is outstanding! However, if you want a drink after an afternoon round of golf, beware the restaurant closes at 4pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And happy hour ends at 5 on all other days. Menu is really limited. If you’re a golfer and ending your round around 5pm on Tuesday or Wednesday, expect to tromp through the hotel to a bar area called 26 to get your drink or meal (very expensive). And this is why, so many people go to Grayhawk Country Club Quill Cafe or to the Desert Ridge area to eat and enjoy happy hour! Before 2020, the Meritage used to be a 1st class steakhouse and nice bar/tavern area. Now, not so much. Unfortunately. Come on JW – you can do better!

Stopped in for a small bite. Opted for deviled eggs. No real flavor. Can’t speak to the rest of the menu. However, service was fast and friendly!

Meritage is a very pleasant restaurant at JW Marriott in Desert Ridge. The ambiance is contemporary but relaxed. We had dinner here and the food and drinks are delicious! We enjoyed the meatballs appetizer, steak and frites, and the scallop dishes. Service is prompt and friendly. While the menu is somewhat limited, there seemed to be something for many tastes. There are no kids menu and activity sheet available, but the ambiance is relaxed enough where it would not be awkward to bring kids. Highly recommended!

Meritage is connected to Marriott Desert Ridge resort. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for such an upscale restaurant. Portions are generous. For lunch, the Turkey Club was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. They have a professional and friendly staff and bartenders that know how to mix some great Cocktails. Try the Collins or the Prickly Pear, both are excellent.

Honestly I would never personally go out of my way to a golf club restaurant haha. But I was staying here and this was one of the best options on site.

Zach the bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable – and he knew what he was doing!

I got the wagyu meatballs. Which were about a three out of five stars honestly. But they were only $20 so I gave them a 4 haha
– Red Sauce was REALLY good. Garlicky, aromatic, zingy.
– Ricotta cheese melted in, that was a really nice cream element I didn’t know I needed
– The Grilled bread on the side was actually very enjoyable! I’m not sure they seasoned it much if at all, but it was grilled perfectly crispy/crunchy with some fluffy still inside.
– The meatballs I can tell were not seared. They were missing texture. And they most definitely did not give me “this is wagyu beef” flavor. It was actually somewhat tough, and maybe even on the dry side? I can tell also tell they don’t cook their balls in the sauce.

50/50 whether I would come here again

Very much below expectations. Food was average (think Applebees but 2x the price), service was ok, restaurant had multiple issues. Order pizza to your room, skip this place.
First, our party was placed in the corner where it was very dark. We asked multiple times for the lights to be adjusted but they must have things set up where they can’t adjust lights over the dark tables. That’s fine but they’ve said others have complained in the past, SO FIX THE PROBLEM. It’s so dark you can’t see. The brought candles, we stole candles from other tables. This was the hotels busiest weekend of the year, the restaurant was only 40% occupied, we should have moved ourselves, but they should have offered to move us.
Second, the waiter had lots of issues with wine, questions, asking bar, etc. and then attempts to open bottle and destroys the cork (BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE CANT SEE). Duh!
So now there’s cork in the wine, we’re all in the dark and there’s no service to be found.
The food wasn’t great, no need to go into that.
The waitress asked if everything was ok at the end, I basically said it was fine, but we’d never come back. At that point she stood in front of me in my face and asked what she should do about it. Nice. At no point did a manager visit us.

Food was absolutely delicious! The sides are family style so just a heads up one side might be enough for the table I went alone and had plenty of food. But it was amazing. Best steak I’ve ever had.
