Farm to Bowl restaurant. This restaurant is a small cozy place, with friendly service. The food was excellent, super fresh and tasty. The broth of the ramen was creamy and flavourful, and the noodles & chicken cooked perfectly. My friend also ordered Donburi-curry chicken katsu, chicken was tender and the curry with the rice was yummy. I love ramen and this I have to say is a hidden gem. The only thing I wished they had was takoyaki, other than that, this place I would definitely recommend. This place also has vegan and vegetarian options. I can’t wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of ramen until I had a bowl from here! Tried their paitan miso once & came back 3 times that week, & have been craving it and coming back at least 1-2x a week since and it’s been consistently good. Broth is so savoury, creamy and rich, noodles are delicious and chicken is always super tender. The gyoza + karaage is delicious and always cooked perfectly as well. Their half size bowls are a perfect size to finish and not feel too full.

We dined as 1st time customers. Service was good. Decor and ambience were great. We were guided to our seats. Menu is straightforward. Waiting times for food are not long. We ordered jidori Paitan shoyu ramen, chintan shoyu ramen, salad, and gyoza side. They were adequately portioned, fairly priced, delicious, flavorful, and filling. We were satisfied with our orders. Area is great for casual dining and chats with friends. I highly recommend.

Best chopstix ever!!
Mannn did we really enjoy our ramen orders. One was spicy and flavourful, the other was rich, creamy and nicely umami’d .
By the way, the chopsticks have textured tips that are great for gripping wet noodles. What doesn’t EVERY noodle house have that?!

Cozy shop offering up some truly incredible bowls of ramen.
I’m typically a fan of tonkotsu and even though the broth here is chicken based (aside from veg option) I was not disappointed. While I found the spicy ramen I ordered to be decent enough to where I’d come back, the Miso Paitan was one of the best broths I’ve ever tried and I would make the trip from Toronto just for that bowl. The broth was so rich and robust I couldn’t beleive it was chicken based. Noodles are cooked to perfection and had excellent chew. We ordered the karaage as a side which was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The one area I think they could improve upon are the toppings as there was nothing really standout on that front. The chicken was super tender, probably sous vide, but could have used more flavor, maybe even a little torch/sear. Bean sprouts aren’t my favourite for ramen but they’re fine for the texture – the egg was perfect. That said I understand the minimal approach for the topping as the broth truly is the star of the show and there’s no other flavour to distract or take away from it.
Price is reasonable and service is very friendly. You can tell they passionate and care a great deal about what they serve and the quality of ingredients they use.
Overall an excellent option for ramen and definitely one of the best when it comes to Paitan.
Highly recommend!

Been trying to find an amazing ramen spot in Hamilton since we moved here 3 years ago. Hesitant at first because it offered mostly chicken ramen – BUT don’t be deterred! Walk through those doors and get let your tastebuds enjoy their tantalizing ramen!
Location wise, it’s close to other yummy spots. Appears to be steady busy during the lunch rush both with dine-ins and take outs. Parking- are close to various lots and some street parking. Also close to a bus stop.
Atmosphere within the resto: was very clean, loved the exposed brick on the wall. Foodwise: We had the salad, gyoza, the spicy sesame, and the miso paintan (both with seasoned egg). Salad tasted fresh and the dressing is so good my husband wanted to slurp it off the bowl. The gyozas were perfectly golden brown. And their ramen- next level! I didn’t even miss the pork! The spicy level was balanced where it didn’t overpower the other flavors of the ramen. The creamy chicken broth was so good it was like being enveloped by a delicious warm hug. Practically would’ve licked our bowls clean if it weren’t frowned upon lol.
Safe to say we would gladly return again to taste their other offerings, truly oishii!

Truly great food, minimalist menu. Back at it again trying out some local cuisine. This place comes highly recommended and so we thought it would be a great place to try. We were promptly seated, and our servers were very kind, attentive but non intrusive, (preffered service). The Ramen was exceptionally delicious, with a complex and distinct broth. The noodles were very fresh and perfectly tender. All the ingredients were well presented, high quality and cooked just right. The chicken Karaage was absolutely delicious nice full sized pieces of chicken. Super fresh and perfectly seasoned. The katsu and curry was exactly what you expect and really hit the spot with that warm fuzzy feeling. Everything was exceptional from the service to the food quality and presentation. The price point is very well balanced what you get vs what you pay is well worth it and reasonably prices. Dishes range 15-20$ so with a drink and a side you’ll be around 30$ per person but it is well worth it considering the value you get. The menu here is quite small and only offers chicken as a meat option. However the small menu has definitely allowed the chefs to perfected each dish and the chicken sourced locally and as fresh as it gets. In that way less is more. You get a hyper focused quality dish. I would like to see atleast pork on the menu as an additional meat option but even with the stripped down menu thus place offers top quality worth checking out. Mental Kyu has definitely earned return visit status in my book. I’d definitely come back for more.

Great food, clean restaurant and nice chef staff. Their complementary tea is great, the karage chicken is very generous and tasty. The dumplings were good and tasted homemade. We had spicy sesame ramen and a creamy miso based one. We liked both. The chef checked in a few times to see if everything was good. Would definitely come back.

Menya Kyu is a hidden gem for authentic Japanese cuisine! The flavors were spot on — you can really taste the freshness of the local ingredients in every dish. From the broth to the noodles, everything was prepared with care and attention to detail.
The service was excellent too — friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who clearly love what they do. The only thing missing? I wish they served beer to round out the experience.
Still, a fantastic spot for anyone craving real Japanese food. Will definitely be back!

As a vegetarian, I vouch that this place has the top tier veg ramen in the world! I had the vegan shoyu ramen and my friend the classic chicken ramen, simply scrumptious, a solid 5 out of 5. We usually find the ramen broth too heavy but not this time, it’s actually our first time to finish every sip of the broth when we reached the empty bottom of our bowls. The ramen is cooked perfectly and very rich in flavour, just an absolute delicacy with all the ingredients wonderfully weave together in harmony. Even in Japan I have never had a veg ramen that can compare with this. Kudos to the chefs! Apart from the food, the service was great and the place is very clean. I also like the fact that it offers half portion meals and lunch combos, catering to the different needs of the customers. We will definitely come back!
