My wife and I went to Mendenhall Inn Restaurant this past Thursday to celebrate our 15-year anniversary — the same place where I proposed to her years ago. It was just as special this time around. We both ordered the crab cake meal, and it was absolutely amazing — perfectly seasoned and full of flavor.
The staff noticed on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and surprised us with complimentary mocktails since we don’t drink alcohol — such a thoughtful touch. Our server, Suzanne, was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts. Highly recommend for anyone celebrating something meaningful or just looking for a great dining experience.

Would recommend for a quiet, fine dining experience on a Wednesday night. We stayed at the Inn and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The photos show the filet mignon and surf and turf dinners and the bacon and brussels sprouts appetizer, which were delicious.

Because we’re about 30 minutes away, we don’t visit Mendenhall often. But last Sunday, the Brandywine Symphony (formerly Kennett Symphony) Orchestra had an afternoon concert so we stayed for a long anticipated dinner.
Juan Bustos, the well-seasoned host and manager greeted us. Unfortunately I forget our servers name.It may have been Cherylynn – quiet and sweet. Her attentive service added to the enjoyment of the evening. My husband, a Filet Snob, said his perfectly finished Filet with Borderlaise exceeded our favorite fine-dining steak house in West Chester. For my dessert I chose their incredible classic Strawberries Mendenhall.
Once the very busy holiday season is over, we need to make an effort to come much more.

Unfortunately the waitress had very strong spicy unpleasant perfume on which made us feel unwell and didn’t help the flavor of the food. it would linger after she walked by. It ruined our dining experience.
The dining room atmosphere was very nice . The service was good. The hamburger and steaks were extremely salty and over seasoned. The rolls were excellent! the best I’ve had in a long time!

My husband and I had dinner here after going to Longwood gardens. We didn’t have a reservation but went earlier in the evening and were able to be seated before the rush that came in after us. My husband had the snapper soup, and the beet salad which he said was amazing. He also really enjoyed the braised short ribs. I had the crab filled mushrooms. I was really looking forward to a good mushroom since we were in the Kenneth Square area but was disappointed by the small mushrooms. They were however overfilled with delicious crabmeat. I had the marinated roasted duck which was fantastic. A nice crunchy skin with perfectly cooked juicy duck. The sides were a bit disappointing my husband ate my broccolini since I don’t eat that and left it on the plate saying it wasn’t that good which I was very surprised since he loves broccolini. My side was some kind of mashed potato/ sweet potato? It was okay but a bit stiff and dry. The warm rolls were great and our server was very attentive and pleasant!

We recently held a 20-year work anniversary private dinner at Mendenhall Inn. The team at Mendenhall was great to work with from beginning to end. The food and service were amazing and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. They allowed us to create a preset menu but didn’t limit us to only a few choices. It was so nice to have a vast array of dishes to choose from. And the portions on all were very large! The cheesecake servings were enough to feed two and it was delicious. We will definitely consider having future events here!

I just want to thank the entire staff for being so accommodating and taking great care of our family for dinner. My father wanted particular seating and they granted his request which really made my night.
Everyone raved about the food tonight. We have been here for several brunch experiences including doing a business lunch here but not dinner. We finally had the chance to visit for dinner after a day at Longwood with the family.
I had the prime rib for dinner (Queen Size) and it was so delicious. Everyone loved their desserts. My husband had Bananas Foster and really enjoyed it. We will be back again for dinner on a more consistent basis.

Stopped by here for dinner after longwood gardens. Very cozy little restaurant. We all enjoyed our food and more importantly the service we received. We got the oysters, bacon wrapped shrimp, ribeye steak, prime rib, and some of the seafood pastas. Everyone in my party enjoyed it. Will definitely return here again if I’m in the area.
