Stopped in for a quick bite/early dinner before seeing a show @ the Crown Theatre — what an unexpected treat! The food was so amazing! I had the 1/2 rack of ribs & my hubby had the fried chicken. Sides were delicious (greens, cornbread, baked potato). Hush puppies for appetizer were crispy & delicious. The banana pudding (secret menu item) was a fun treat, too! Our server (Melvin “not the owner” Randall) was very funny and kind. Can’t beat the prices, either! We would highly recommend!

We had such a great experience thanks to our server, FeFe! She was incredibly sweet and had such a warm, welcoming vibe that immediately made us feel comfortable. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions with confidence, which made ordering easy. She checked on us multiple times without being overwhelming and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Overall, amazing service — FeFe did a wonderful job and truly made our experience even better!

Well where do I start, the food was Just okay, i ordered salmon bites as an appetizer and for my entrée I ordered pork chops, macaroni and cheese and collard greens. The salmon bites were delicious. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The collard greens were bland dry and although I can tell they did not come out of a can they taste like it . the pork chops were fried to perfection but dry on the inside my guest ordered Chicken wings sweet potato soufflé and baked beans. We share this sweet potatoes soufflé because it is delicious the wings, we had to tear through the coat in order to get to the meat see picture attach for how much feathers were on the chicken. It was very discouraging to eat. We began to pick it off, but then after a while, got discouraged because it was so much the atmosphere is OK. They really need to clean the floors and although it was empty, the service was a little slow but it has potential and room for growth.

Our first time here. Saw the ads on Facebook and had to try the food. As a food blogger, I must say, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was friendly. The portions were huge and prices reasonable. Will definitely be back.

Food and atmosphere is awesome. Food is fresh authentic and delicious. First time going. Come this way a little bit but never noticed it. Please stop by. The wife and I had the $60 platter which was great on all levels. Definitely will be coming back.

As a BBQ fan, I travel the USA and beyond looking for a great meal. Melvin’s definitely delivers. The brisket was excellent, rubbed only with salt, pepper, and garlic then smoke correctly. Cut it with a fork and enjoy! Ribs are fall off the bone with good pork flavor and solid sauce. Sides are the right size. Service with a smile and fair prices round out this place. Plenty of parking. Stop here and eat plenty. Met Melvin himself and the guy is friendly and knows his BBQ. People like him make for a great experience.

Marvin’s at Riverside BBQ is a hidden gem. The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want from good barbecue — tender meat, great smoke flavor, and sauces that actually complement the food instead of overpowering it. Portions were generous and everything tasted homemade.
A big shoutout to our server, Niy, who was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great service really makes a difference, and Niy helped make the whole experience even better.

Hubs and I went for our second wedding anniversary dinner based on the recommendation of a friend. Best brisket ever! Perfectly tender, cooking made the meat shine (not over-flavored), perfect smoke red ring depth. And I mean – traveled the country eating BBQ; owned a vending BBQ business myself years ago, and no one does brisket better than they do! Ribs were great except hubs got a rack that was a little too dry, but the second part of the rack was tender enough to fall off the bone and smoked perfectly in flavor. Although I was not a fan of the collards (hubs said he liked them), the Mac n cheese had a great texture and spot on cheese crust on top. Would have liked a bit more banana pudding for dessert. As someone from the food industry, I can tell they have plenty of years of experience cooking. Was a great experience and we WILL be back again!

The Good: The food was really good, genuinely was a great surprise. The Catfish was immaculate, fell apart in my mouth, very juicy. Grits were fantastic as well, presentation was beautiful. Server was very attentive.
The Bad: Ordered and paid for cabbage which I didn’t get, just a mistake that happens and I didn’t look at my bill until I had already left.
The place could definitely use a little love inside, patches up benches, sticky tables, little grime all around but not nearly as bad as some places in the ville.

What a great experience. Not knowing what to expect we entered the restaurant and was quickly greeted by our waitress. She explained the menu and even made me a Margarita eventhough the normal bartender wasn’t on duty. Once we ordered she informed us the the chicken we ordered may take a little while since it’s cooked fresh. As we waited for our dinner she brought out bread and butter and the butter had a special taste to it. When my wife asked about the butter the waitress said it was flavored with honey and she was proud to say she made it herself. The food was excellent and the price was very reasonable. This is a most visit place if you are in the area. Although I was passing through the area for my trip back home to New York I will definitely make this a stop on my next visit .
