This place is crazy . I think this place is the most home made place ive ever been to . Everything tasted like it was on steroids. The burgers were juicy and tender . The fries home made and perfect. We got an appetizer of fried pickles (omg they were so good ) the ranch was homemade too!

I feel like this place is a definition of everything is bigger in Texas . You will not leave hungry. The pancakes are big and delicious. We only came here because we were heading back home from vacation and this was the closest spot . This was the best decision my dad made , and yes I’m a teen writing this . I’m also very picky with stuff but this place didn’t give me the slightest ick .

The service was AWSOME very kind and friendly.

I’ve never written a review but I had to for this place

We went in during lunch time but both the waitress was kind enough to ask the cook if he’d be willing to cook a burger and cfs for was which he said he’d be happy too. I was really excited to try the CFS and was looking forward to it. We waited a bit but we understood we asked for something that wasn’t available yet so we appreciated it. We’ve passed by Mel’s so many times and never stopped now we ALL kick ourselves for it. The food was absolutely AMAZING! The burger was cooked to perfection and juicy with tons of flavor. My CFS was delicious along with the creamy mashed potatoes and fried okra. Definitely going back! The customer service was great our waitress was attentive. So overall experience was awesome. Looking forward to trying pies and everything else on the menu the ONLY downfall to this was the temperature it was really muggy and hot in there but I understand with this Texas heat.

The food is delicious. My husband had the hamburger steak which was also very good. The club sandwich had thick slices of turkey and ham full of flavor. We will definitely be back soon!

Quaint and hidden place. There is breakfast a breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday 8-11. The food is ok, but priced high for what it is, in my opinion. Any changes/additions are very pricey. Breakfast buffet is a good value, but not impressed with the rest.

Checked out this dive outside of Boyd, TX and we were very surprised. Nothing fancy and we weren’t sure what to expect so we kept it simple with a cheeseburger, mushroom Swiss burger, fries and fried pickles.

We were blown away by the burgers. Cooked to medium well, they were still juicy and hot while the buns were fresh and soft. Fries were about par while the fried pickles were exceptional.

For me, this was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. We will be back again.

We enjoy coming here and feeling welcomed. The food is pretty good, and the waitstaff has always been friendly. Usually, we order during breakfast hours. I like their omelets. They’re a decent size, but not overly huge. I prefer my hashbrowns a little crisper, though. The sweet tea is good, as well. Biscuits are a nice size and the gravy is okay.

We discovered Mel’s Place searching on Google. It was so “us” and so country that we have been back 5 times in the past couple of weeks. It’s about a 30 minute drive from Saginaw and well worth the trip. I recommend the Meat Lover omelet. I’ve also had the Chicken Fried Steak and its good too. We took our granddaughters there and they have asked to go back twice.
On the weekends they have a breakfast buffet. I haven’t tried it personally but lots of people choose it.
The restrooms are very clean and have that cabin-like, rustic appeal that reminds you that you’re not in the big city.
Good food and great service from some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. What else can you ask for? It’s a safe, country friendly place to bring your family for great food and worth the short drive to experience it.

We did the breakfast buffet. While the selection is limited, the scrambled eggs were fresh, not overcooked and the bacon didn’t taste like it was cooked the day before.
