Wow…just WOW! Exactly what you are looking for from a family diner. Completely fair pricing, exceptional service, more food than you can eat that melts in your mouth. Asked everyone at the table and 5-stars all around. It would be impossible to not be satisfied with your breakfast at Mels!

Jenna was amazing & so attentive! The chef behind the grill did so amazing with the food, props to them both! Mel’s was a pit stop, but if I lived in Sanford I would absolutely come every week! Try the ribeye & eggs so so so yum

A Google search lead us to Mel’s…a bit off the grid but sometimes thats the way it is.
That area of Sanford was likely bustling at one time, fallen on hard times but dont let that dissuade you from stopping at this hidden gem.
As soon as you walk in the grill and counter is right there…booths to the right and the ice cream freezers to the back.
Servers were super attentive, food came out fairly quickly…..I hear the sausage gravy was delicious and the malted waffles were as well…the coffee was good and always ready to be refilled.
There are 75 flavors of ice cream in the freezer cases including vegan…..all with descriptions…and looked like sample spoons.
By no means is Mel’s flashy and modern but good food, good, service and a clean atmosphere is all you need.
FYI…the restroom could use a little modernization.

Everytime I come the staff is super friendly and the food is great! I always get the country feast and it never disappoints. Highly recommend way better than dennys and ihop.

We’ve seen this place several times and decided to stop by and give it a try. The staff was very pleasant, service was fast, and continuous. They didn’t just serve the food and forget about you. Our server kept checking in to make sure we were ok. The croissant sandwich was very filling and tasty. The home fries had good flavor. The waffles were good, and the chicken was OK. It seemed to be the same chicken that would be served as chicken strips. Overall tasty food and a nice experience. Will definitely stop in again for breakfast to try some other menu items.

Classic menu, impressively fast service and friendly staff. Food is good. The home fries were perfect, soft inside with a nice crispy outside. Biscuits a bit too dense and dry on the edges, and i only had a yolk in one of my poached eggs, the other egg was just egg whites, not sure if that was a mistake or inflation tactics but still good nevertheless.we got the ultimate skillet and the fried chicken Benedict. Both good.

This is a down-home-feel kind of diner. I read reviews before making the choice for our party of 5 to eat here. Reviews kept saying the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Everyone was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! The staff bent over backwards to get each of us exactly the breakfast we’d been hoping for, including some special order dishes and extra touches to our orders.

And the food was AMAZING!!! So delicious!

We ate well and had a great time visiting together with the two we’d just picked up at the Orlando Sanford Intl Airport. We all agreed we’ll be telling others about this gem of a restaurant, and we’ll DEFINITELY be back anytime we’re in the area!

Do yourself a favor. Don’t miss visiting this gem!!!! You’ll know what I mean after you eat here!!

We grabbed some takeout breakfast foods here and they were all good. They had shrimp and grits (we love grits) and an omelet that comes with gravy on it. Pretty good value, overall.

YUP‼️ This is a definite return!
This was our first visit to the diner, and OH BOY, I’m happy we stopped in!!
As we walked in, Adrianna greeted us warmly and let us know she was cleaning a table for us to be seated. The seating was less than a minute, and fresh coffee was on the table very soon after. Cameron or “Cam” as she likes to be called, with her high-spirited bubbly personality, was quick to help Adrianna with our table and took our order with great suggestions and answers to questions from the menu. I chose waffles, eggs, and bacon with a fresh fruit cup on the side. The waffles were light Ave fluffy and didn’t even need syrup! The eggs were perfectly cooked to my liking, and the bacon was crisp and not dripping in grease, so it didn’t kill the flavor of the bacon. My fruit cup was fresh strawberries, sliced bananas, and blueberries. The fruit was crisp and sweet, which made me pick my spoon up and scoop the cup as opposed to picking it up with the fork.
Our other meal was the biscuits and gravy with eggs and ham. The biscuits were fluffy and not too flaky. Again, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and the ham was tender. We thought that maybe there could be an option for honey baked, but the meal was very good without it.
The chef, as well as Patrick, who is the owner, stopped by our table to greet us and welcome us in. He shared some history of this restaurant and the other that he owns (that will be our next eatery) and thanked us again for choosing Mel’s Diner.
If you’ve never been for a visit, you are missing out on a gem! It’s located in a good location and should now pick up the traffic from “The Patio Diner” which is about 2 miles away, since they are now closed.
The restaurant was clean and smelled fresh, and the bathrooms were tidy and stocked with the necessary toiletries.

Mel’s Diner, you get 5 ‘s in my book!! We were thoroughly pleased!!
