Perfect onion rings!!! – the best I have ever had. Vegetables were good and not overly salted which is really nice.

Have been enjoying Mel’s for a couple of decades now, and it never disappoints! Anything on the menu is great, nothing on there you can go wrong with. Had a stop in on a Sat evening at 5pm, and were able to get a table within a couple of minutes. Decided on their onion rings, fried mushrooms, bacon cheeseburger (regular size!… not the Mel or Mega-Mel) and the Monte Christo. The food is always hot, crispy and not greasy. The hostess and wait staff are super friendly and even tho the wait staff are going what seems like a million miles per hour.. they still take great care of you! The only nit-pick on our meal this time, was with the Monte Christo… they needed to melt the cheese in the sandwich before frying it! That sandwich needs to be warm inside when you bite in, not cool.

We love this place. We visited first time in several years and I was worried it had changed like many places do! But as far as my taste buds can recall it’s still delicious as it was several years ago. I’m so happy to be back in the area and I can dine at Mel’s again! They have the best home made onion rings! I had the Reuben sammich and my daughter had the lunch special of Beef tips. Both were absolutely wonderful! No disappointment here!

This place is always packed. Some days you get great service, some days it’s a bit slow. Today was slow. The food is wonderful comfort food. It’s worth the wait and worth the slow service.

I ate here several months ago. Food is typical cafe food and is average at best for the South. Service is okay. Wasn’t real busy when I was there and the service was a bit slow. Atmosphere is aged. Restrooms are fair in cleanliness. Good selection of food items on the menu. Can’t recommend this place at this time. It’s closed and maybe they’re updating the place. I’ll go back again in the future and see if my visit was a fluke.

We showed up on a busy Saturday lunch and were able to get a table for 4 within a few minutes. The food was all excellent. The chicken fried steak was epic and delicious. The smaller size was still plenty big. The chicken steak fingers were delicious as well. I tried the chicken aguacate. It had Cajun spices, avocado, pico de gallo, and cheese. So good! The cornbread was great as well, a little sweet though. Service was good too. We would highly recommend this place!

This was our first trip to “Mel’s” after hearing about it from some local friends. They swore by the place so we figured we would check it out. Honestly it was one of the best meals I have ever had, and this place really is a true hidden gem! The service was incredible!!! Our waitress was very nice and helpful. She was patient, and didn’t rush us to make our choices, etc – and at the same time was nice with giving us her recommendations, answering questions, etc. The employee’s busing the table referred to us as sir and ma’am which I found impressive. Just very nice staff all around, and very courteous, well spoken and mannered! The food was amazing from the rolls and corn bread, to the dinner salads, to the entree’s and burgers. We had a little bit of everything and nothing disappointed. Kids popcorn shrimp basket and burgers were great for our young ones. The burger was excellent!!! The Chicken Fried Steak might be the best I have ever had anywhere (definitely Top 3)! Catfish was excellent (however I would go Chicken Fried Steak or Catfish Christopher over the Fried Catfish when I return again). Everything we had really was excellent, and everything on the menu really sounded good. I have added some pictures of a few of the dishes we had….but again knowing what I know now I would go #1 Catfish Christopher (photo attached), #2 Chicken Fried Steak (photo attached), #3 Burger, #4 Fried Catfish (photo attached). This place is so good / I can’t wait to go back. Would give it a 6 star review if I could!
