Decided to try this place out since they serve cheese steaks and let me say that this is a new go to spot for food. The cheese steak itself was good, a good amount of meat, cheese, and a nice toasted sub roll. Only thing that could be better is if the cheese steak itself was bigger for the price but overall it was a really great sandwich. I would also recommend the seasoned fries to go with it. The fries were very crispy yet nice and fluffy on the inside, the perfect way to serve fries. I’d recommend checking this place out!

This was my first time trying Mel’s Butcher box and I’ll definitely be back! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a chocolate milkshake and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was absolutely amazing!

I would love to share a beautiful photo but I finished my burger 2-3 minutes after my order arrived so I could only take this photo. You can see other great burgers when you go there. Mel is an incredible person and I order from her at least 3 times a week. Definitely the best in the area.

Had the absolute best burger of my life prepared by Melanie herself. She is wonderful omg what a kind, authentic and most talented lady . Gina who also was there to ring customers was so nice. My brother and sister let me know about this place. Its amazing. I had the smashburger, fries the Joes tea and bought my 12 yeaf r old home a homeade rice crispie oreo treat. My son an absolute foodie loved it. They use the best meats and the prices are attainable. I was just wowed!!

We recently celebrated my son’s graduation here, and I can’t say enough about how amazing the experience was. Mel and her sister, Gina, went above and beyond to make it unforgettable. We rented the entire place for a Friday night party with 20–25 food-loving guests, and every single one of them was raving and highly impressed – and these are foodies, (from – NYC, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Long Island, Greenwich, Philly, Chicago, Maine, Vermont, Miami, Guatemala, Romania, Israel and Egypt); all BLOWN AWAY.
The food? Absolutely off the charts.
– Perfectly cooked hamburgers, cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches
– Creamy, fresh Caesar salad and mac & cheese
– To-die-for onion rings
– Killer fries and even potato skins that were a surprise hit
– And the star: a jaw-dropping Tomahawk steak with my son’s name and “Class of 2025” etched into the bone—an unforgettable touch

Beyond the food, Mel is simply the best. She was responsive, creative, thoughtful, and a joy to work with. She helped plan the menu, presentation, and even set up music and decorations. Gina was outstanding too – constantly making sure everyone felt welcome, well taken care of, and was having a great time. She brought such a warmth fee and energy, ensuring every guest loved the food and felt special.

I tried Mel’s Butcher Box for the first time yesterday, and I’m still thinking about that burger.
I’ve lived in the Tenafly/Dumont area my entire life, so realizing I waited this long to come in honestly feels like a personal failure. It was, without question, the best burger I’ve ever had….simple, perfectly executed, and clearly made with incredible ingredients.
I’m already annoyed knowing I could have been eating this for years, but very grateful I finally made it in. You’ve officially set a new standard, and I’ll absolutely be back (often).

Such a cute spot, great service and really great burgers. The mozzarella sticks are super good and so are the fried Mac and cheese nuggets. The chicken sandwich was fresh and tasty. Definitely will stop by again.
