Meal type: …
First the good news; food was very good and prices surpassingly low considering other places high costs. Ham and cheese omelet was perfect. Diced potatoes had just right texture and seasoning. Biscuits and gravy were complimentary with soft biscuit and flavorful gravy at just the right consistency. Table workers were fantastic and genuinely friendly.
The bad – for me at least. The comfortable home style feel of the original building is gone. Replaced with lots of echoing noise and an “industrial” setting with bright lights, dark ceiling and white walls. Menu is limited but the food provided is excellent. (Best pancake I ever had this morning.) I hope they can reduce the noise and hang some paintings.
Will return as the cooking and staff more than overcome any atmosphere issues.
During our first visit on a Sunday, they were out of many menu items. The bar area itself looked nice, but alcohol options were extremely limited. There was no orange juice or pineapple juice available for mimosas, and there were small gnats flying around the bar area, which made it feel dirty and disorganized. We were seated with menus but no silverware, and our food took a very long time to come out even though the restaurant was not busy. The outdoor sign was covered by a banner, which we assumed meant it was broken. The bathrooms were absolutely awful, which was surprising considering how many employees were on staff.
We returned today to give them a second chance, but sadly many of the same issues were still present — even six months later. The outside sign is still broken. The seating benches were stained and dirty. We were seated quickly, but placed near the kitchen, where the wall was visibly filthy and clearly in need of deep cleaning and fresh paint. Again, we were seated without silverware.
They still do not offer flavored creamers for coffee. My coffee mug was chipped, and I had to stir my coffee with a straw. The water mug was also worn and chipped. Once again, they were out of food items, including potatoes, which is disappointing for a weekend service.
The bathrooms were still gross. Service was decent, but the food was not. My omelet was watery, and my son’s pork chop was not edible at all.
Overall, this place desperately needs fresh paint, a deep cleaning, and better organization. What’s most concerning is that this is a newer restaurant — which raises serious concerns about cleaning habits and food preparation standards. Running out of basic food items repeatedly on weekends points to poor management and lack of planning.
Please take this as constructive feedback and fix this place up. We never experienced issues like this at Oscar’s. Unfortunately, due to ongoing concerns, I will be notifying the city so a thorough inspection can be conducted.
We were seated at the bar for breakfast even though there were plenty of open tables.
Service was slow.
Received the wrong side orders.
Only came with 3/4 pieces of toast.
The condiments were disgusting. See attached photos.
