I’m not a big fan of Samoan food, even though I enjoy my cultural cuisine, and I eat very little for health reasons. This place has a wide variety of island food, but the prices are quite expensive. Overall, it’s convenient for anyone who likes island food and needs a quick meal.

I am Samoan from Brisbane, Australia, who grew up eating fob food. Being away from home for 3 years, I sincerely enjoyed it! The lamb, kalo, luau, and chicken were on point, however, the sapasui needed garlic and ginger for more flavour. Looking forward to visiting again.

I recently called Mekong Market to inquire about the price of an item, as I live in South Anchorage and wanted to confirm it before making the trip. Unfortunately, the young man who answered the call was unhelpful and rude. He told me he couldn’t provide pricing information over the phone and insisted I come to the store in person. When I tried to explain the inconvenience of traveling all the way there just to check a price, he responded, “If you don’t want it then don’t come,” and hung up on me.This level of customer service is unacceptable. It felt like the person on the phone either didn’t care about their job or didn’t want to help. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to visiting the store, but now I’m definitely reconsidering. Customer service matters, and this experience left a bad impression.

Bought dinner here a lot of times and it’s always a hit or miss. This time i was really disappointed we bought a bowl of the coconut shrimp with mussels and a few other plates. The coconut shrimp was spoiled and coconut was slimy it seems like it was from the previous day. This is disappointing because their food is expensive not worth the money. WILL NOT BE BUYING FROM HERE ANYMORE.

It is a small grocery store and the other half is a buffet style restaurant. The food is pre made and ready for your picking. The roasted pork belly has no seasoning, oily and doesn’t taste like anything. The fried rice was decent as well as their curry pigs feet. The portion size is small but the total price we paid definitely not worth it, pretty spendy. One of the server has a smart mouth but aside from that customer service was decent. The restaurant side doesn’t look sanitary and kind of run down. I wouldn’t recommend it.

My concern here is the cleanliness of this place, and not so much the quality of the food. I am Polynesian, born and raised; now live in Anchorage. The foods I would not touch; I’m sorry, call me picky. I did try the pork belly and chicken fried rice, which was nothing to write home about.

If you’ re looking for hot Polynesian food (fob food) this is the only place in Alaska you can get some. Price is not too bad, compared to red apple and everything else here in expensive anchorage. Food is hella good and totally worth your money!! satisfied my graving and definitely gonna be a regular customer from now on. Don’t judge this place by the way it looks, u gotta try the food first!

Always great service and the food is super tasty! It’s the go-to place when I get that text message from my mom saying “I’m hungry for Samoan food. Will you go get me some?” LOL
