Be patient when coming here. But the wait is worth it. I had a couple of different dumplings and some dim sum as well as some little custard pies. Really friendly folks, just not a real fast-paced environment. I really enjoyed my stop here and wish I had been just a little more hungry because everything looks fantastic.

This was quite the experience! We recommend you come with patience and the mentality that there may be a wait due to limited seating and very busy staff. We waited about 20 minutes but once seated we quickly began flagging down waitresses to get our orders in.
The food was very good and came out fairly quick once you got your orders in. The garlic chicken wings with the chili paste was very nice as well!! Get the egg tarts before they’re gone, they’re sweet and are perfect to eat with tea.

Place is decent and looks old. But me and the family does not mind that. People ask me why I still go for Chinese food anywhere I go. Of course, the ingredients are different. So here we are at Mei Sum. The pork siewmai was a bit salty. No more soy sauce needed. Pair it with white rice and it balances the saltiness. We also ordered shrimp hargao and that is my recommendation. Love the crunchiness added in it. The other one I will recommend is the turnip cake. Look fan with chasiu is ok. Beef balls is also good. I can hear our servers are speaking Cantonese so I feel I am back like a spacious Hong Kong dimsum house.

It was really slow. We decided to stop to get some Chinese food. The food was ok could’ve been better. We ordered five dishes with no drinks. It came out to be $108 for 2 people . Which was crazy while we were eating, they were sweeping and mopping, which was disgusting and trying to eat with the flies was just hideous. Never again. Sorry but I’m Just being real!

Some close family friends took my mom and me out to lunch here. I had high expectations as they eat out a lot, so it had to be outstanding. Unfortunately, it was just okay.
ATMOSPHERE:
Very plain & uninviting interior. Bright white lights, white walls and white floors reminds me of a typical business in Asia. There is a tiny parking lot behind the building.
FOOD:
House Noodle
We substituted the noodles with a cake noodle, which was delicious; crunchy outside and soft inside. It was topped with squid, bok choy, tender white fish, and shrimp.
Chicken Feet
My all-time favorite oddity. I loved their version! Dare I say even more than the one at Legend Seafood? The flavors were better.
Chicken Manapua
Meh, didn’t care for it. The taste was okay but it didn’t go well with the other dishes we ordered.
Taro with Scallops
Very interesting. It looked like little bird nests, with a layer of taro at the bottom and a thin slice of scallop on top. The “nest” was some sort of deep fried noodle. Flavor was on the bland side.
Steamed Look Funn with Charsiu
The look funn was a bit mushy but the flavors were good. Legend does a better job.
DESSERT:
Custard Tart
No Chinese meal is complete without these little suckers! The crust was flaky and buttery, and the custard was nice and eggy. Yum!
SERVICE:
It was average for a Chinese restaurant. Food service was quick. Don’t talk story after your meal especially if they’re busy, which they were, cause you’ll get “the eye”!
OVERALL:
Good food but not the greatest.

Fast and fresh food. The garlic chicken wings were exceptionally good.
We came early in the morning to ensure we got the most fresh baked goods as well
Look Fun with shrimp had nice big pieces of deliciousness. We also got the sweet coconut sesame ball which was hot and fresh!
Everything was super good and the place opened extra early! Sunday was our best early morning visit so far.

We love the food here. Great selections on Dim sum, made fresh and great food and the prices are affordable. Very little English is spoken here. But they do a great job. Party of 3 for lunch we got their around 11am. We were served immediately, it wasn’t too busy yet. Our food came out very quickly. We were disappointed in their recommendation for their house special noodles. It had no flavor and it was the only thing that we didnt like. Here are a few of the great dishes we ordered. Highly recommended.

I spent the afternoon walking around Chinatown and knew I wanted to try a dim sum spot. I had just eaten at Marugame (because I wanted to try them out too) but made sure I left room in the stomach for more food.
I read some reviews that said the service wasn’t good. I thought the ladies that worked there were the sweetest and most attentive I’ve seen in a while. And the food was great too! I’m from Vegas so the only thing I can use as reference are the many dim sum restaurants in our Chinatown; Mei’s can easily go toe-to-toe with any of them.
I did just eat at Marugame so couldn’t try as many things as I wanted but I did an apples to apples comparison by ordering many of the same items I typically eat at any dim sum: the porridge with pork and century egg, the shrimp dumplings (har gow), tripe, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and pork buns. All were outstanding.
I don’t recall seeing any prices on the dim sum menu but everything above (2 orders of the shrimp dumplings) came to a little over $40 (no drinks – only the tea and water) so the price is super reasonable too. I’ll definitely be stopping by again!

Kung Hei Fat Choy! Our family has always enjoyed Mei Sum for its delicious dim sum and dishes at reasonable prices. Great value for the quality here. It can get busy, so if you have a large group, call ahead for reservations.

We had only a few hours to kill in Honolulu and decided to wander around the arts/Chinatown district. Someone in a shop nearby recommended this place. It’s pretty awesome! A little low rent of a room but the food and prices are excellent :-). Great Shrimp Look Fan!
