This is a excellent place for fresh SUSHI, fish like fresh from the shore. They offer 2 different menu, one for Japanese dishes another one for French cuisine. Restaurant is located right inside TCU campus, very easy to find. I will come back for the French food next time, Peter told me that there are not many French restaurants can offer the dishes in his menu. You have to go try it out. I give 2 thumbs up for this restaurant.

This was an odd experience to say the least. Let’s start with the positives:

The chef and wait staff were very friendly, and the chef is clearly enthusiastic about you being there.
Some components were pretty good: the fried dumplings with curry were a pleasant blend of French pastry with Japanese flavors.
The miso soup tasted good
Our waters never got empty, and service was pretty quick.

Here’s where things go wrong:
No one is here on a Thursday evening, and after visiting, I know why
The atmosphere is super odd. Office supplies in the corner, there was a pocketknife casually sitting on the table next to us, the appearance that they are trying to be fancy but in a sketchy old bank building that needs a facelift.
The saddest part is the food. I don’t know what the across the board 5 star reviews are smoking, but I don’t know if I can trust any of them. We ordered a sushi boat for two. It came with a variety of sashimi and sushi. The sashimi all tasted like it had just been thawed and did not taste fresh at all. The tuna and salmon were okay, palatable. The shrimp nigiri was decent. Every other piece of sashimi was pretty bad. The nigiri was slightly better but still did not meet any expectations for the price. There were three sushi rolls: a maki roll, an urumaki roll, and a “dragon roll”. The maki was fine, nothing special, about what you could get at the most basic sushi restaurants. The urumaki was grocery store sushi level. The best food on the boat was sadly the overdressed and Americanized dragon roll. It at least tasted good since the sauces overwhelm any flavor of fish. I am confused by this place because it feels like they want to be upscale sushi with a focus on sashimi and nigiri, but they can’t make either of those well. Instead they can make your run of the mill Americanized roll that you can get at any sushi restaurant for $15-20. Those are the sushi restaurants I try to avoid.
At the end, we had a “New York” cheesecake. It was thin, had no crust on the bottom, was much less sweet and creamy than typical cheesecake.
Finally, when it came time to pay, we were told we had to either pay with cash or write down our card info for them to process later since their POS system was down. Immediately afterwards we were told we had to pay in cash. We don’t carry cash so they suggested we go to the ATM at the 7-11 next door. They gave us the cheesecake for free as compensation, which was good since the cheesecake wasn’t very good.

The pictures appear decent, but the food just isn’t good, especially for the price.

You enter the place and it is quite nice, but the customer service is bad, they did not warn that their system was not working so when we finished eating, they said that we had to pay with cash, and we had to go to the 7 eleven , to the ATM that is there, which charges you a fee since it is not your bank’s ATM.
They don’t speak loud enough, and they didn’t understand what we ordered, the chef wanted you to order more than one sushi roll because it’s very small, for me personally it’s a good size, so that insistence on making you order more food was a somewhat uncomfortable interaction .
The food tastes very good, but there are definitely better places to eat good sushi.

Amazing food, amazing service. Started with fried duck, miso soup, edamame. Ended with a Godzilla roll and a rack of lamb. Definitely a place I will continue to come back to!

Second time at this restaurant with my wife. We have been thoroughly impressed both times by the service and quality of food. Highly recommend this restaurant. Tonight we were able to experience the tasting menu, and it was lovely. 8 course of great food. Stand outs were the baby scallops, pomegranate tuna and kobe (real A5) dish that was probably 6 ounces of real Kobe beef. Everything was excellent. Can’t wait to go back,

Sushi lovers make your way to this hidden gem. Phenomenal Sushi!
I was greeted and seated immediately, as was everyone who followed.
Chef Peter delivered one of his magnificent “Aircraft Carriers” to our table himself and identified each of the beautifully presented sashimi, sushi, and roll offerings, including the Japanese sourced fishes
All of which were divinely, deliciously -silky, tender, light, buttery perfection.
Currently, Megu is BYOB with no corking-fee.
An ice bucket was provided for our white wine and pours offered throughout our meal.
And amazingly, you can bring your vegetarian friends along – vegetarian options available on the menu. You can also request gluten-free soy sauce.
The dining space is small, so I overheard a vegan at a nearby table start their meal with perfect edemame, and then Chef/Owner Peter visited their table to clarify the vegan’s needs and returned later bearing a custom vegan friendly dish.
Chef Peter escorted us graciously to the stair-free exit door.
Initially I had rated the atmosphere a 4 of 5 as it is comfortable not posh but as I wrote this review and reflected on the experience this resulted in the upgrade to a 5 as for my table & from my observation as a whole, the feel of the evening was that we had eaten at a very talented friend’s place rather than a restaurant. We enjoyed lovely background music and soft natural lighting with an exceptionally gracious host.
Megu’s entrance is at the front of the building facing University Drive, making the turn into the parking lot and making your way onto the entrance lanai the only awkward part of the experience. Once inside, Peter’s warmth and expertise lead to fabulous indulging.

We went with a group of 9 for my wife’s birthday. The chef’s hospitality is only matched by his food. He has a Michelin star from prior chef experiences. We had the ostrich entree as a table appetizer along with the tuna tatami and a wagyu carpaccio. There was equal dining from both the French and the Japanese menus. The sushi/sashimi platters are some of the freshest fish I have had. Many of their fish they bring in daily or weekly from Japan. Don’t sleep on the black cod either. Lastly, and not least, the ginger vinaigrette on their house sale is something I would love to bottle.

We had a delightful experience. The service was excellent with the staff knowledgeable and efficient. Chef even came out to say hi and make sure everything was good. We really enjoyed the Japanese soup dumplings! The karage was also great and something we haven’t been able to find since we were in Japan.

This place is lovely and so yummy! The employees and lead chef are so amazingly kind!

I am a TCU student and have been wanting to try this place for a while, but couldn’t find anything online about it! Today, I finally made time to go in and check it out to see a menu and the building, and I ended up getting some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time! The chef happily talked to me for some time about the restaurant, and proudly told me that he is actually the former owner of the Michelin Star Megu in NYC!

It is so clear how passionate he is about his work, and he happily showed me all of his fresh ingredients, told me about his heritage, walked me through the menu, and asked me about school! It was so clean, and I’m eating my sushi right now! It’s great!!:)

it is definitely a bit pricey, but it is worth the price! I am more-so just saying that since there’s a lot of students in this area so that way they know that this isn’t like McCallister’s or Fuzzy’s or Buffalo Bro’s, but if you’re in for a nice Japanese or French meal, it was delicious! I’m already excited to return and try more menu items!

Also, I took pictures of the menu so that way people in the future would have something to reference so I will attach them to this review!
