I expected something to be homemade or hand pattied.
Salad came with onions and cucumbers. Plain.
I had to get mellow yellow because they didn’t have mountain dew. Coke was nice and sweet and fizzy though Strictly coke products FYI.
Service was okay but I had to ask three times to get a small side of mayo.
I never ended up eating my hamburger. I couldn’t. I’ve had coneys from here before and I will say that those are good. Fries are crunchy they just need salt. A little Lawrys goes a long way.
They’re always busy but most everyone’s getting the conies. The rest of the menu is severely lacking. Even the fish were nearly all uniform with too much breading… which is a dead giveaway for pre-frozen bagged fish.
Plenty of parking, a cool vibe very vintage garage style with old school Marilyn Monroe, James Dean vibes.
Plenty of seating, some booths & some tables.
They have really good hours they’re open nearly all the time. They are not near the highway which kind of sucks for travelers.
There are several other restaurants, a starbucks, a walgreens, a bank, and a Walmart very nearby.
It’s a busy place but I was not impressed and for $85 for 3 at a diner … I’ll stick to the coneys.
Not me! This place deserves five stars on everything food is fantastic and like it says Mega, service is always excellent with a smile, and the atmosphere what can I say, the 50s music I can’t get enough of. The design of the inside restaurant itself, is also unbelievable. It makes you feel like an old fart when you hear the music you can’t stop tapping your feet. You cannot and I mean cannot be the food, I have a first-hand view of that. I’m from upstate and come down to Flat just to come here. Don’t miss the chance to stop in and eat at least once. Because that wants is going to turn in to I Can’t Get Enough. It doesn’t deserve five stars it deserves 10 if it went there.
We love coming to Mega diner. The service is great, the food is delicious and they’re open 24/7 which is so fun for night owls. The atmosphere is amazing with 50’s music and retro themeing.
But our favorite thing about them is something totally underrated and that is they fry their food in beef tallow. This is old school and how food used to be fried. No nasty canola, “vegetable” or soybean oil. You can taste the difference (the fries don’t even need salt they’re so flavorful). And because beef tallow is a clean frying option, you don’t feel heavy, gross or bloated after eating, even if you have mozzarella sticks and chili cheese fries like we did. You just feel full and happy 🙂
Call to place an order for pickup, told the order CAN NOT be placed if NOT paying over the phone for it at that time…. First red flag.
Upon arrival, waited another 40 minutes and told to pull around the disgusting pothole filled parking lot 3x to be told that my order hasn’t even been started yet. When then asking for a refund sent 2 different employees to tell me “we don’t do refunds” ….. BUT I NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER.
FINALLY after stating I simply would not move from the window until given a refund, they sent a man who did void my transaction.
Overall, NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. place never understands what “well done” means when it comes to a hash brown either. Wet, sloppy, dirt tasting slop.
Sad part is, this isn’t the first time I’ve had a similar experience. This time around just warranted a review due to how poorly I was treated as a customer. Over priced $$$$$
Went back to check out the dinner scene. In October Very good service. The food was very good the steak was bigger and cheaper than Outback steakhouse, comparatively as good. They have a very good variety of items on the menu for all tastes. From cheap to expensive, and meals in-between for Penny pinchers. Will go back. We were not being cheap this visit and tipped generously. Please don’t go so it won’t be crowded the next time I go . Don’t tell everyone how good the food and service is. Sh,Sh Flint’s hidden secret. Highly recommend you can take your family or just go get something quick and affordable with a friend 24hrs a day 7 days a week. The bathroom’s are worth checking out also. If you’re a nostalgic type of person.
