Meema’s has some of the best BBQ I have tasted in Georgia since I have been here. I have been in Georgia for 5 years so that says a lot. Try the baked potatoes you want be disappointed. They also have great customer service which is hard to find in Decatur.

Being from New York, it’s hard to impress us with anything because we seen it all. But when I came across this hidden gem of a soul food restaurant. I was beyond impressed.
C ustomer service was friendly and professional from the front door. And the food was down home delicious. Not to mention that the portion was ,,,, I’ll saw that I needed a bag to take what I didn’t finish with me. I’m definitely coming back and will absolutely recommend this as the go to spot for great food.

I have mixed feelings about Meema’s BBQ. The barbecue itself was very good. We had ribs, rib tips, and pulled pork. The meat was tender and moist, with the ribs being properly done where there’s some chew, they were not boiled and made too soft. The young lady working the counter was helpful with a complicated order, beyond mandatory customer service. So, kudos for meat and service. My problem comes in with the sides. Everything was sweetened. Collards, corn bread, baked beans, all really sweet. My wife said even the mac and cheese was sweet. Just too much sugar.
Incidentally, be careful with the spicy bbq sauce. It’s very spicy, and I say that as someone who eats a lot of spicy food. You’ll probably want to be sparing with it, or mix it into the regular sauce. Pretty tasty though, not making a complaint here.

I ordered 2 take out plates – both plates with: BBQ chicken & 2 sides. The portion size was definitely more than I expected. The sides were OK – which contained mac & cheese, collard greens, and baked beans. But what I truly had a taste for was the BBQ quarter chicken – it was a little pink on the inside, a little dry and not as moist/tender as I had hoped. Although the chicken was covered with BBQ sauce, for me, it did not do much to add to the taste. I stopped by during a mid-weekday evening hour when business may have been a bit slow. Maybe I need to find the best time to stop by when the food is constantly being cooked and at its freshest. I will consider giving Meema’s BBQ another try – maybe on a weekend when it may be more busy.

Best BBQ I’ve had in a while but the sides are even more incredible. Feels like a home cooked meal…but better. Hearty portions and great customer service. Close second to the best greens I’ve ever tasted!

So our favorite bbq place ran out of Mac and cheese. Me and my husband were discussing where to go to get some from a guy out of no where recommend this place and he had the nerve to say that they were better then my usually place Lord I wish I could find him and slap the tar out of him this place sucks meat is blend Mac and cheese is oily and how do u mess up lemonade and on top of everything they use the microwave to heat up the food

Ok, so I visited the area where this lovely jewel of a southern bbq cuisine eatery was located and I left there completely in love with the FOOD as well as the friendly, relaxed breezy atmosphere. The chopped bbq chicken sandwich with cole slaw on top was absolute perfection and a great size for the price. The collard greens which are seasoned with turkey and to perfection are AMAZING! Also, the baked beans are scrumptious and perfectly sweetened and last but not least, the Watermelon Lemonade was everything! This place made my busy day and was a perfect wind down bite for the evening. I’m definitely going back asap!!! Oh yeah, great customer service too!! I highly recommend this place to bbq lovers and foodies alike.
