I’m definitely coming back again. So much flavors and lots to choose from. All the meats were very tender ….definitely not dry either. I can easily say they have the best poppers (Texas twinkies) Thank you Sarah

I’m leaving this review based on two visits:
On my first visit, I waited to be seated for more than 15 minutes. During this wait, nobody approached me at all, so I left without being served.
On my second visit, we were seated in a timely manner. We came for the brunch on a Sunday.
Both of us ordered the same drink (Tropical Momosa), but they clearly looked and tasted very different from one another (see picture). For a $9 Momosa, I’d expect some level of consistency.
For the food, we ordered the Breakfast Burrito and the Monte Cristo.
The Breakfast Burrito was $14.99 plus an additional $3.50 for the brisket option. For an $18.49 burrito, I was very underwhelmed. The plating presentation was displeasing (see picture). Having to pay extra for the brisket, I’d expect a good meat ratio in the Burrito, but it had little to no meat at all in some areas (see picture).
The Monte Cristo was actually very good. Both presentation and taste were consistent with the pricing.
The service times were close to 30 minutes for our order. The waiter told us they had a small kitchen and they weren’t able to efficiently serve the number of customers seated due to it. Only half of the seating area was occupied at the time.
Overall, the experience, food, and pricing do not warrant a desire to return. Nor would I recommend Meat Hook BBQ to anyone.

Thought we’d give this new bbq place a try over the weekend and it was well worth it. Brisket had some tasty bark on it…chicken thigh had great flavor (cause it can be blah sometimes), pulled pork was good too. I think the sides is where this place might shine, hot smashed potatoes salad was the best. Baked beans were super tasty and the cornbread baby muffins weren’t just cute, I wanted like 5 more to go with my meal. The three bbq sauces were spot on, spicy, sweet and regular (my fav). Staff was super friendly, totally cool place to hang out, on the patio too.

Service was good. The girls working were super sweet. Brisket was a little dry and on the cold side, everything else was good. We enjoyed the different sauces. We don’t live super close so I’m not sure if we will be back, but all in all we had a positive experience.

I’d give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Just happened to stop here on Saturday for lunch and it’s easily the best BBQ place around. The meat, especially the brisket was perfectly moist and melts in your mouth. We ordered all the sides and every one was delicious! I loved the fried green tomatoes with the homemade ranch. My brisket birria tacos were amazing, that consume’ sauce should be sold in stores. Overall, we will definitely be back…and we’re bringing the whole crew because this place is that good!

Date Night! We’ll go back for sure! We tried a few different menu items and really enjoyed the pulled pork sandwiches. For starters we tried the poutine with pork and it was delicious!
The salad with chicken was very good and a huge portion.
Our service was great and they kept our drinks filled!
Try the Meat Hook BBQ the next time you’re looking for delicious food and great service.
Close to the Westerner Club this would be a great place to eat before you get your dance on!

We tried out Meat Hook for the first time the past weekend and it was really delicious! This new restaurant appeared on our new places to try and it was a refreshing new BBQ restaurant to add to Utah’a repertoire. Meat Hook seemed to be a pretty established restaurant and almost seemed like a chain based on the really great branding, but I was quickly surprised after a Google search. The restaurant felt like a BBQ joint outside of Utah. You walk in and it instant smells like bbq, which is fantastic. We went went with the meat combo and one of the choices was ribs without an additional fee (!!!!!). We got the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The meat was cooked well, but could have used a bit more seasoning. The sauces were solid, but I think it would have been better if the meat didn’t rely on it. Fried green tomatoes was a side option (first time seeing this in Utah!) and we chose that along with mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was under-seasoned as well, but that was quickly solved with the salt and pepper packets they offered. We also got the Brisket Birria tacos, and WOW. They were delicious! I wish they were a bit bigger as they were just street taco size, but the flavors were on point. The staff was super nice and the restaurant itself was clean. Excited to go back and try their brunch soon!

The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious!! My family and I went in for brunch, and it was some of the best brunch we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was great and the place was very clean. Unfortunately, we did not have the best server. Though we understand the service industry is just not for everyone, we did not notice much effort to be just a bit more helpful, polite, or to have a smile on. Would totally go back hoping the service improves.

Accidentally stopped in on the first day. Very clean, open atmosphere with good music. Took me a while to land on the 1 meat choice, brisket with Mac and cheese + beans. Price is great and portion was more than enough. Parking took me a moment, but I’ll explain that below.

Sauces
Having two sauce options keeps it simple. The spicy/hot one is more of a southern black pepper vinegar kick vs a pure jalapeno or other slap.
The main, original sauce (sorry I never locked in the name) is sweet and I assume loved by many. Very safe and sweet.

Food
The brisket was smoked well. Could have been more smoke, but tasted very good. Pieces I got were less lean but I prefer that. I could see others thinking it was too fatty, again I enjoyed it and the amount.

The Mac and cheese were good. My least fav of the order. They are a white, almost powdery and wet cheese mix. Served cold (compared to the beans) lots of preferences there but I enjoyed it. I’m more of a warm, creamy cheddar gooey type.

The BBQ bacon beans were on point and exactly what you would expect from a BBQ place. I almost added some of the spicy BBQ sauce to it, but no need. It was great.

The corn bread muffins were good. Main complaint is they are tiny but that’s probably for the better vs the square tray approach.

Vibe
Overall the team did great and I am sure will dust off the “we are new” vibe soon. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Might help to add a door bell or visual since I was able to sneak up to the front without a welcome (didn’t take away from my impression because everyone was huddled around watching some sort of BBQ nacho thing being created)

The bathroom was clean

The outdoor area looked great. It was a little too windy and chilly so I didn’t sit there. I notice there is a fire pit and the covered back porch walls all close so that’ll be great into winter.

Feedback would be around the parking lot being darker and the two doors on the side both have dark grey text on black backgrounds. It was hard to read that they were an exit. Took me a second to realize the front door was around…the front (my bad) so maybe more signs if you don’t want people to flow through the side doors. In general the inside was also on the darker side but that fit the vibe. Could illuminate the walk from the front door to the ordering line for folks that have bad eyes. Just an idea.

Great job!
