I’m American and this was the first Haitian restaurant that I’ve tried and since I’ve tried many others and none can compare to MD. My favorite is the Lalo spinach with rice and a side of pikliz, I have also had their fried turkey and chicken, And the legume… DELICIOUS! I’ve come multiple times since 2021 and it may have been only twice when I wasn’t entirely satisfied.

My brother and I went here last night for dinner; and I gotta say that our experience was simply amazing! From a food perspective, it was certainly delicious, but what took our breath away was the customer service from the waitress named Dulia.
Her warm welcome and hospitality made us feel like we were family! I highly recommend going here. And, they close later than most of the Haitian restaurants in NJ.

Terrible Experience – Found an Insect in My Food
I visited MD restaurant, I always excited to try their food. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. As I was eating, I noticed a strange taste and quickly realized that I had just chewed on an insect that was in my food. This was absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but the lack of care and hygiene is inexcusable. I strongly urge others to think twice before dining here. Food safety should be a top priority, and this restaurant failed miserably.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I ordered food TONIGHT large rice & beans with Griot (pork shoulder). The lady that answered the phone was BEYOND rude! Rushed me off the phone while ordering. I get there and asked for extra sauce( in which I usually pay for $2) told me there was no sauce. Ok I asked for extra pickles (mind you in looking at the container full of them) she said no I said I have no problem paying for it she said no. Then I get home and opened my food and IT WAS NOT WHAT I ORDERED! I asked for GRIOT and they gave me ribs! EXCUSE ME! I understand both are pork but I did not asked for ribs if I wanted ribs I would’ve ordered ribs I ask for GRIOT! I called her (spoke to her in creole because I am Haitian and to make sure there wasn’t a language barrier) and told her this is not what I order she told me it’s pork. IT IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED! I asked if I can return it or can they make me what I ordered she said no! I just spent $18.26 on food that was not correct! Granted I should have opened and examined the food before leaving but when I ordered GRIOT I expect to get GRIOT and not pork ribs! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE GO TO GOOD SHEPHERD OR TAP TAP! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Will be looking the their proper business name to report to BBB! All RIBS in the pictures! They are scamming you for your money giving you food other than what you order!!

Served nasty food today. They charged $24 for left over chicken and rice. Chicken was spoiled and hard. Rice was uncooked. Wish I could give no star. Terrible services!!!!!!

This is one of the best Haitian food spot in the Union County, New Jersey in terms of taste and service. They stay professional unlike other Haitian spots that have horrible customer service. This is my spot and they deserve a good reputation.

This is worst restaurant in New Jersey. Food is disgusting. They take your money and serve you rubbish (malpropte) . I urge you people not to waste time going there to waste your money and loose your appetite. Sa se radot, ou achete on soup yo ba ou li San viande epi li su. Ampil acid. Legume yo ba ou li ak viande turkey ou chicken pendan ke yo charge w pou beuf ak pork. When you complain they don’t even care to address your concerns. Sauce Poule du, excessive acid. Very sour. Ok, what can I say about this place! Just I can not spend a week without paying them a visit. I spend $60 last week on Haitian fritay. They are not expensive. I’m just a big spender and I have a big family that loves their food. Customer service is excellent
