No idea why people like this place?! My first time and last! Food had zero flavor! Got surf n turf and steak was undercooked had to send back. Lobster was chewy and my butter taste horrible. Got the combo appetizer and was also overcooked fried food. Had a party of 6 and nobody was pleased with their meal. Food took over an hour to come out. Waited way too long. Will not be back. Add some flavor into your food!! Prices are only thing decent but you get shitty food.

Went to McVeys for the first time tonight, made reservations which was a great idea, because they stayed steady which must mean the food and service is good! It definitely was, the burgers were great, the fries as well. We also got the wings and they were on point!! Service was great from both the waitress and bus girl!! They all are hard workers and don’t slack, very friendly and kept the pops coming. It was our son’s birthday and the young ladies all sang to him which was so sweet !! I highly recommend McVeys for the food and great service with fair prices!!

I finally went to McVey’s after months of it being on my list to try & I am so happy I did! I will definitely return for all of my special occasions & hope to bring others as well because it is sure to become their new fave, too!! From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent! The hostess was friendly & the bartender, Joe made the entire experience incredible!! He was patient with our questions, very accommodating, & made a killer Cosmopolitan! Our food was delish & the proportions were perfect! I also appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant, relaxing atmosphere, & reasonable prices. An absolute MUST if you haven’t yet tried it.

Starting with food. Very consistent. Have been dining here for years, and what ever is ordered, is the same taste and quality for as long as we have been coming. Perch is better then Tiebels, have the price. generous portions. Shrimp dishes best around. Fried chicken , can’t get enough of it, Prime Rib could be just a bit more seasoned, quality of cut can be iffy, but no control of that. Generous cut, they always make it right. Steaks, seasoned sirloin very good. Combos great. So reasonable great variety. Ribs to die for. Pasta dishes amazing. Appetizers same. Cocktails reasonable as most of menu. Sides great choices. portions plenty. Service, Joe and wife Megan are the best. As the other wait staff. However, when very busy they try their best but can get overwhelmed and can be slow. But. again, they have been their a long time which is wonderful to see, and do their ut most best. Atmosphere is older. but clean. and full of character, part I believe is the charm. Hostess and bus staff also are a great part of the whole package. Always courteous, smiling, and welcoming. Thank you Joe, for giving Lowell a wonderful place to unwind, relax. enjoy a day off from the kitchen, without having to be late on my mortgage payment just to enjoy dinner out.

McVeys had been a favorite of ours since we moved to the area about 13 years ago. This also quickly became a favorite of my father in law who we would take to McVeys for his birthday or a weekend dinner. We recently had a luncheon for my father in law who passed away and I have to brag on everyone who coordinated our event. The staff –from the initial call to ask questions, to the follow up calls about the menu, to the service and food during the event were top notch. The space we had to ourselves allowed for us to set up exactly how we intended to, it was private, and we had our own restrooms which was nice. Our servers were beyond helpful– rearranging tables for us, asking what we needed, going above and beyond– that was so very appreciated to be treated with kindness and resourcefulness to make this day as smooth as possible. Perfect lunch service, they checked in on us often, coordinated very well. The food was delicious like it has been each visit we’ve had to McVey’s. Chicken, Ribs, Perch, or Steak it didn’t matter it was all so very good. The steak cooked perfectly- juicy and tender, the perch so light and crispy- with that delicious tartar sauce, the broasted chicken crispy, juicy and delicious, and the Ribs pull apart with the best flavor. The food was hot, cooked perfectly, and exactly what my father in law would have enjoyed. All of our guests complimented the meal and the whole thing. I highly recommend letting McVeys’s host a meal or a small event for you. Thank you!

Honest As The Day Is Long
We dined it today for my birthday and everything tastes amazingly good and the price is very reasonable. The waitress who served us has that motherly feel. She was very kind, friendly, polite and she got all our orders right. She made sure that we get refill on our drinks before we even asked and helped us pack our leftovers. It was one of the best service we’ve had in a restaurant. The appetizers are reasonably priced and very good. The spiciness and zing is just right on the chicken wings we ordered. My husband ordered chateubriand and it was by far one of the best steaks we’ve tasted. I ordered salmon and it was savory and crunchy but not dry. One of the best I have had and it came with a sweet potato with sugar and cinnamon. I was fully satisfied. My son ordered garlic shrimp and he loves the shrimp a lot and ate them all. We are still in the restaurant and already planning to return soon. This place is worth the trip and we are glad my friend’s coworker suggested it to us.

Been hearing a lot of ppl rave about this place for a while. It did not disappoint. The service is terrific. The atmosphere is small town homey and very welcoming. The food was good. I will skip the mashed potatoes and go with a different option next time, but we will definitely return.

One of the area’s better known restaurant menu specially the weekend prime rib dinner. Wonderful staff, they have a great bar room, and lots of parking in the rear. Lowell…a quaint town!

Edit – Came back for a 2nd time on a Sunday for my birthday at lunch time. Since it is the weekend, the menu is different and a little higher priced but still very reasonable for the choices – I am glad because I got to try the Prime Rib. It was very good, and. came exactly as I ordered it. Impressed considering the price of beef, it was a great value. I had a choice of potato and ordered the garlic mashed potatoes. Both portions were huge. The dinner also came with relishes at the table (kidney bean salad and Cole slaw salad), choice of soup or salad, entree, choice of potato. Since it was my birthday the server was kind and brought out a slice of chocolate cheese cake with a candle on it. Very good, and had great service. I added photos of the Prime Rib and Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and pick 3 platter that my son ordered (Lake Perch, some kind of steak and chicken) that also came with a choice of potato.

Food was good, service was good. Definitely would go back. Tables were comfortable (wood with chairs) and enough room to walk around. Halloween decorations were noticed, and noticed good music in the background.
