McGowan’s Oceanfront Tiki Bar in Hollywood isn’t just a bar—it’s a whole vibe. From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into a hidden world, where every item seems to carry its own story and memory. This place isn’t about fancy food or trendy cocktails—it’s about atmosphere, character, and the kind of laid-back outdoor escape that’s perfect on a blazing Florida day. Led by the owner himself, who welcomes you with his own unique style, it feels more like being invited into someone’s wild and wonderful backyard. And fair warning: the drinks are strong—don’t be shy to ask for a sweeter mix! It’s quirky, authentic, and one of the chillest spots you’ll find on the beach.

Extremely rude service, waiter denied a cup of water to my son and was mean to him.
The only thing he needed to do was say that the water was $2…and not be rude.
Stay away, tourist trap

There are no prices on the drinks menu so be prepared. ($16 for a cocktail.) The high prices reflect the location right on the boardwalk and the tiki hut vibe is cute.
Probably stay away from the mojitos if you’ve had one before. Their recipe needs some work, like real mint would be nice.

Lovely view, and nice seaside bar, BUT the worst mojito ever in my experience. It’s unfortunate that the management seems unwilling or incapable of providing even an average tasting mojito for the solid gold price of $16.00. Invest in some mint and cheap mojito mix at Food Lion and make your unwitting customers satisfied. An outrage at any price. $69 for four drinks was beyond belief.

Yes the drinks may be $$, but the pours and the drinks are 100% worth it. This man is the definition of authenticity, hospitality, and a classic experience we all wish for when coming to a bar. Can’t wait to come visit Hollywood again just to stop back here!

Liked the place. I saw people complaining about rude owner, but he was nice and quick and when we asked for receipt, he calculated all in his head, I was really surprised.
All the food we ordered was good and the drinks were the best compare to other beach restaurants. We even decided to stop by later but the place was already closed.

The owner is very hospitable and makes great drinks! We visited daily during our trip and come back every year during vacation. The fried fish is grouper and is amazing! I highly recommend stopping by.

Gotta give credit to the owner for his marketing and setup- I fell for it.
Shame on me for not reading the reviews first. Beers $8-$9! My husband was stunned and said wow that’s a lot for around here and the waitress said “you have a view of the beach”. Yeah along with every other restaurant next to you. A few doors down go get a bucket of beers (5) for $25. I ordered the “best ceviche” and the fish was chewy, drowned in lime juice but it was edible and I was hungry. Until I found a hair and it was game over for me. It takes a lot for me to complain and hair is the #1 ick I get with food. I told the bartender/owner and not a single apology came out of his mouth. Instead he questioned me and said he “couldn’t see it” when my husband and daughter even said “that’s a hair”. The owner and employees stood for a few minutes examining my food and talking behind us and I was extremely uncomfortable. I offered to pay for half of it, luckily they took it off the bill so thank you for that.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND COME OVER HERE :):):) This place is amazing!!! This ceviche really is the best and the drinks are SO GOOOD. Order the mixed ceviche and a mojito and you will not be disappointed!!! 🙂 I love the beachy atmosphere and the delicious food and drinks. I also love that the owners are the bartenders and cooks–they really care, you guys. The owner is so nice and chill. I think there was just a transition and that might be why the old score was bad but the new people are incredible!!! Please don’t pass this place up. They really care about making sure you have a great experience so if you have a problem, talk to them before you go on Google maps and give bad reviews. These people deserve 6 stars.

This casual, open air tiki hut style bar has an incredible location! The view simply can’t be beat. It’s locally owned and operated and the owner himself is a lovely man to interact with, providing great customer service with a warm, kind, laid back demeanor. Every time we visited, there was great music playing and a magnificent energy radiating about the place. The drinks are delicious and fairly priced. I can’t speak for the food, but it’s all made by his wife so I’m thinking it probably has the same quality as he rest of the experience. It’s low season now, but I’m sure the place gets pretty rowdy when the crowds are larger! Definitely a worth-while stop along the boardwalk to slow down, hang out and chat with some people over a drink. I’ll be back!
