I walked into this McDonald’s expecting a transaction and instead experienced a procedure. The doors opened automatically, but not warmly. The smell hit me all at once, like a memory I didn’t consent to recalling. Somewhere above me, a menu board cycled images too fast to be trusted.
The kiosk was already awake. It did not welcome me; it acknowledged me. I selected items quickly, hoping confidence would prevent follow-up questions. It did not. It suggested additions. It remembered my choices. It printed a receipt that felt more like documentation than proof of purchase.
The food arrived with no announcement. The tray simply appeared, as if summoned earlier. The fries were hot but fragile, dissolving on contact with air. The burger was assembled correctly, yet eating it felt like checking a box. Flavor existed, but only briefly, like a loading screen tip.
The dining area was quiet in a synchronized way. People sat alone together. A chair scraped once and everyone looked up. I became intensely aware of the lighting, which made the ketchup packets look important.
I left full but unsettled. Nothing went wrong, which is the problem. One star. This McDonald’s does not fail—it completes you, then releases you back into society.

1am they had everything locked and not taking orders. I waited in lane 1 for 5 mins no greeting. Rolled up to the window. No one came. Rolled back around to lane 2 and nothing. You’re the only place that serves food past 10pm – at least greet the customers and say you’re closed. Instead of sitting in the office sleeping on the company clock.

If you get their ice coffee promo on their mcdonald’s app make sure you use it! The Large size in Florida is super gigantic compared to the mcdonald’s where I come from. Enjoy your ice ☕ break. If you have Long covid as a result of Covid 19 exposure, no caffeine after 5pm. Absolutely no alcohol! Enjoy your coffee responsibly! Please do not litter! Keep Florida clean! It is flu season, wash your hands and wear a face mask. You really don’t want to get sick with H3N2 subclass K. Nasty very very nasty flu. You have been warned!

The staff closes the dining room two hours early, ignores customers, doesn’t answer the phone, and plays around while visible to customers and potential customers instead of doing their jobs. Went to a different McDonald’s and got much better service.

If you go thru the drive thru, check your order before leaving the window. I picked a egg McMuffin to deliver to a house bound vet, I failed to check the order so I showed up with a fried chicken sandwich. When I called the local store to complain the representative hung up on me. The corp management offered me a” value “ item of my choice off the breakfast menu to make it right plus offered to refund my money only if I came back to the store. The generosity of corporate america is underwhelming.

Ordered an Americano sugar free coffee however they gave a cappuccino with sugar instead without providing any reason why. The restrooms were available, though if you’re in a tour bus there’ll be a long line. Kiosks were unavailable for that. If you are in a tour bus, I recommend ordering using the McDonald’s app, and you’ll skip the line of 50 people. Overall, a good McDonald’s location to stop during your Key West trip.
