Atmosphere: ⭐⭐ (2 out of 5)
This McDonald’s is located on South Pike Street in Shinnston and sits directly beside the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery—which is an odd backdrop when you’re trying to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The inside of the restaurant was disappointing: small, cramped, awkwardly laid out, and frankly dirty. It doesn’t feel like your typical dine-in McDonald’s—more like a drive-thru location that happens to have a few tables thrown in. Based on some of the poor reviews I’d read, I gave it a fair shot, but unfortunately, I found much of the criticism valid. The interior really needs some TLC, a serious deep clean, and maybe even a full refresh.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5)
The service here was surprisingly good. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm “good morning” from the gentleman at the register, which sadly isn’t always the norm these days. He was friendly, efficient, and professional throughout the entire interaction. I had an issue with the McDonald’s app—my code for a free iced caramel coffee kept coming up as invalid—but he didn’t give me any trouble. He honored it anyway and gave me a courtesy coffee, which I really appreciated. I also ordered a bacon, egg & cheese McMuffin with folded egg (instead of the standard round egg), and he made sure the kitchen got it right. Service was quick, accurate, and above expectations for a fast food stop.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 out of 5)
The food was solid but nothing extraordinary. My McMuffin was correct, came out hot, and was ready quickly. The iced caramel coffee was decent—not the best I’ve had, but good enough to start the day. Everything was edible and served its purpose, but nothing stood out as exceptional.
Final Thoughts:
While the service was a bright spot and the food was acceptable, the overall atmosphere of this location is what brought the rating down. Between the location next to a cemetery and the unkempt dining area, this place feels neglected. With a bit of investment in cleanliness and interior updates, it could easily become a much better stop.

The people who work at Shinnston location, for the most part are always pleasant. The food is pretty much what you would expect- I’m not going to a 5 star restaurant; however service is horrible. You request one change from normal-like NOTHING on a Mcchicken -can’t tell you the number of times I get to where I’m going only to find out EVERYTHING on sandwich -explain that to a 6 year old!!’ I now check before I pull out. The service is so slow, I can actually get to Chik Fila and back before I can get through the line. What is the issue ? If double lane doesn’t work-go back to single. At least if I see traffic to the road, I can make decision to not stop or come back later. There is no specific day or time this happens It seems consistent. I know we all live in “fast” demand for everything but when I have to wait 20 minutes plus-that’s not practical. Mr. Ebert, someone needs trained on work flow because it’s not flowing at your Shinnston location.

This McDonalds is the worse one in Harrison county. Worse than the one in Clarksburg. So thats actually a pretty impressive feat. Every thing here tastes like it was made 2 days before. Only stop here if youre looking for a drink. But careful they only fill their drinks about three quarters of the way full.

The whole place is always dirty, we always have to clean our own table to sit down, the employees are always standing together laughing and not paying attention to the register and we have had to actually call out several times to be waited on, the employees are running their hands through their hair and adjusting their hats then making our food, the poor girl yesterday at the register couldn’t figure out how to give us change when our bill for a drink was 1.49 and my husband gave her 6 quarters, then the man after us asked for an iced mocha and she kept saying” we ain’t got no mocha”, so he ordered something different that came to 1.80 and gave her two dollar bills and she stood there staring at the register trying to figure out his change and ended up giving him 8 cents, this place is really sad

This is by far the worst of the worst McDonald’s I just drove through asked for a large quarter pounder with cheese meal and got a large here’s my large fry none in bag either and no I didn’t eat them on the ride to where I was going….. start putting better work in because your work ethic is everything stop letting people make you look bad and correct others because this is non sense

Not a dine-in place. Seating very uninviting. Nobody manning indoor register. Food delivery slow took it to go since we had already been waiting. Fries soggy and cold. Double cheeseburger messy and tasteless.
