Quaint, relaxing setting delivering British fare from afternoon tea to bangers & mash.

Usually, Irish pubs in the US are merely cosplaying as Irish. McCarthy’s is a real Irish pub serving real Irish cuisine with a great whisky selection. And make sure to grab scones on the way out. They’re so light and crumbly with crispy edges, nothing like dense American imitations.
Irish food can be quite heavy. Make good use of malt vinegar as a condiment. The sausage roll is worth getting for the onion Guinness sauce alone. My only gripe is the baked beans are so inedibly sweet I can’t bring myself to eat it. Those taste Americanized with 3x as much sugar as what’s standard in Europe.
The place is always crowded for good reason. As a result, service can have minor hiccups as the waitstaff have to juggle so many tasks. People don’t seem to mind.

McCarthy’s is the perfect blend of American and Irish cuisine. The food is fantastic, the service is superb, and the atmosphere is not only crisp, welcoming, and clean. But you feel like you’re in an Irish pub when you’re together with family and/or friends. Our server, Ryan, did a phenomenal job when I was with my family last week. Five Stars and I highly recommend it to all.

The banana old fashioned was delicious. The sliders were awful. They were over cooked, dry, and had no flavor. The bear burger was the same. The sausage rolls were good and the gravy was delicious.

My fiancé and I booked McCarthy’s to host our rehearsal dinner for the night before our wedding. I can’t thank Ivan enough for his kindness and dedication in making our intimate dinner a cozy and relaxed evening. The food was unique and delicious! I highly recommend McCarthy’s to anyone looking to host an event.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience here on Valentine’s Day! They ran a special pre fixe menu in the banquet area upstairs. The seared scallops and mushroom pate with soda bread were phenomenal appetizers. We both enjoyed our steak with prawn and crab cake entrees, and the cheesecake and chocolate pots de creme from their in-house bakery were the perfect finishing touches.
The most notable part of our experience was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was beyond friendly. While we didn’t have an opportunity to meet the infamous founder (hopefully next time), we had a wonderful chat with the manager, Ivan, who was helpful with everything from scotch recommendations to how to make the most of our night in Bethlehem.
We were in town for a show and aren’t local, but if we were we’d be regulars at this place! We even returned later for a night cap. We hope to visit again, soon!

Fantastic place. The owner is from Belfast and modeled the bar off of one there. Great traditional Irish food with a really good whiskey. Friendly staff and a nice environment. Must stop if you’re in Bethlehem.

We went during a weeknight and there was live music. I appreciate that you’d place isn’t a sports bar with tvs everywhere but truly a traditional pub with a delicious Irish food. We wished we could have enjoyed more food but we went later in the evening and they closed early due to the lack of clientele.
We started off stuff the fondue, which was tasty. Then my husband ordered the cottage pie, which was very flavorful and was presented well.
I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was huge and the best I’ve had in years! I could only eat the fish. The tartar sauce was perfectly tangy.
All in all, everything was delicious. It all needed salt, but that was easily remedied. Can’t wait to go back.
The live music was great, and the beers were great accompaniment to the dinner.

Joel is an outstanding professional whose energy, graciousness, and hospitality made us feel like royalty. He made us a French Press of some of the best hot coffee we’ve ever had anywhere. He took time to speak with us like old friends or family. McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub is not just a bar but a family restaurant that feels like home. It’s Bethlehem’s version of Cheers…where they’re always glad you came. Thanks to owner Ivan and the lovely Kate for going above and beyond to create this warm haven in even the most brutally frigid temperatures.

First time here and I absolutely loved it. I came for lunch and everything was great. I recommend making a reservation because it gets busy quickly.
To start, the service is truly top-notch. Our server was fantastic—great recommendations and super helpful with both food and drinks. The dishes were delicious, well-prepared, nicely portioned, and full of flavor.
Lastly, the place itself is very cool—perfect for a meal with friends or family. I loved the atmosphere

Is this the best Irish pub food in America? Maybe in Ireland too? It might be. We had a great time here. The tall stunning redheaded hostess was super friendly and so welcoming. Live music was a nice plus to the lively atmosphere. Guinness and its variations were a welcoming sight on the menu. Fish and chips fried to perfection. My friend’s whiskey marinated pork chop special was bigger than his head and for $21. What a deal! Would highly highly recommend. Just amazing Irish pub fare at affordable prices.
