Steaks are good, staff are friendly and the place is comfortable. They keep the lights too dim at 7pm to appreciate the quality of the food which is a shame. If that was an esthetic choice, i don’t understand it. I ordered a sirloin and porterhouse steak, but took them back to the hotel to eat. They were both delicious and the cooks did a great job.

I noticed a lot of the older patrons with mobility issues had difficulty leaving the entrance and had to have family help them safely get to the parking lot. It would really be an appreciative gesture to install an automatic door and handicap ramp to round out the experience of a warm satisfying meal.

Parking is decent but not magnificent. There is room to park on the side street. If you are coming through with an RV or trailer you’ll find a place to park along the street without too much difficulty.

Post script. The pictures attached are from a phone with low light amplifier which doesn’t quite capture how dim it was. You don’t need n.o.d.s. to eat here, but being able to tell the difference between pepper or char is the hallmark of adequate lighting.

Some colleagues and I went to lunch just after 1, upon arrival we waited for a minute or two, then a waitress asked us how many, we said 4, she paused looked around and said I’ll be right back. A minute later, another lady came up and asked us how many. Then our first waitress popped back out and set down silverware and menus on a table we eventually were seated at. The waitress appeared annoyed with the other lady that was trying to serve us. All that to say that for the first time ever, I felt a negative energy when walking into the restaurant. Not really sure if the folks that work there enjoy being there. The service got better during our visit and the food was great as usual.

I was really looking forward to my first trip to McBrides Land & Cattle Co. I love steak! I have been in the area for almost 2 years now and had heard that this particular restaurant was one of the best. I came with a group of friends. I ordered the Cowboy Cut Ribeye, medium rare. Boy was I disappointed. Had I not been with a group I would have complained and sent it back. First of all, it was more medium than medium rare. Secondly, for a ribeye, it was an effort to cut and chew. With my steak I also had the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, a Ceasar Salad and a Sweet Tea. Well, the Ceasar Salad was not disappointing. One out of 4 items was good … for $44!! Normally, I’d give a restaurant a 2nd try before critiquing it. The Sweet Tea? I was adding sugar to it. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes? Bland. I can see why it’s a 4.4 rated restaurant. My rating is not so generous. Wasted $44 (before tip) if you ask me. Oh, and the waitress? The only time she cracked a smile was when she was handing out everyone’s check. Then, she turned it on (it was “leave a tip” time, after all!).

The early bird was excellent value for money. The waitress was knowledgeable and did a good job. Service was speedy at 5pm. The meat was not prime grade but what can one expect for $21 for an 8 ounce ribeye these days? Salad was good as was the German potato salad.

Ever been to a restaurant where, as soon as you walk in, you feel – oh I am not a local and they are going to make sure I know it? Yea. This place is it. It was 35 minutes before we got drinks. 67 minutes before the food came. I had grilled porks and she had a filet. They were out of some food when they took our order 35 minutes after they opened the front door. The pork chops were….cooked. I can’t say they were grilled. The filer was ok. The baked potatoes were good. The house salad was good. The basket of crackers that came out with the salad had a a few stray crackers unwrapped. Most of the individually wrapped crackers were broken. I can’t say this restaurant is checked off my Wichita Falls checklist and I won’t be back.

So, today I went where i meant to go a while back. Don’t get confused like I did and go to Mcbride’s steakhouse. Mcbride’s land and cattle is the real spot. Food and service were both spot on. Couldn’t ask for better. We had 2 families in a party of 8 total and everyone said they would come back. Thinking back, this isn’t the first time i got confused. Hopefully I’m not confusing anyone else. The point is Mcbride’s land and cattle is the best steakhouse in Wichita Falls.

I cannot say enough good things about the steak. A steakhouse who actually nails what most people come for, and none of the frills that come with some chain restaurants. The waitress was great and I know it’s somewhat minor, but we were sat after a party of the same size that arrived after us, and were given the same waitress time as us, so they didn’t call ahead to get on the waiting list. I brought it to their attention, and we were the next party sat. Overall it was a good meal and would go back.

It felt like I went back in time to where things were simple and good. No fuss or fancy, just good quality food at a fair price.

The steak was spot on both in seasoning and temp. The fixins were just right.

I’m glad I chose here and not the fancy steak house. This place brings back great memories of how our country used to be.

This place was decent, but didn’t blow me away. The prices are great and so is the service. The food was okay, but came out correct and in good time. It is dark inside this establishment, though.
