McAllisters is on our favorites lists because I can get a good sandwich and my wife can get her favorite salad. We both also like the tea and can get it the way we like it with free refills. The restaurant does counter ordering and then they deliver your food to the table. Occasionally they will check to see if you want a refill, but usually we go up to the counter to ask for refills.
I switch up between the French dip and the Cubano. Both are very good and are usually generous with the meat, and the French dip comes with a tasty au jus. I sometimes upgrade my side to the fresh fruit, although occasionally it is mostly grapes. Otherwise, we both like the kettle chips as our side. My wife enjoys the Southwest Chicken and Avocado Salad with the Chipotle Ranch dressing.
Occasionally we will get our favorite as a pick 2 combo with soup. I don’t think we have had any soup and not enjoyed it. The portion is small, but in line with most other restaurants. They also have good cookies if you are into dessert.
At risk of being called cheap—one thing that kind of bothers me is that for a long time they would not accept tips. They even noted that if you left a tip they would donate it to a charity. But now they have the dreaded pop up at the register for a tip before anyone has even provided you any service. I don’t mind tipping, but I still think that tipping should come as a result of good service and not as a guilt trip at the register. What happened? Did you give your folks a pay cut and now we are making it up? End rant…

Mccalisters is notorious for getting orders wrong. Hire employees who can follow instructions
My son received his meal first, then my fiance and I received our sandwiches. They had mixed up the special request for my sandwich with hers. We politely sent it back so it could be fixed.
When they returned 5-10min later, the order was messed up in the exact same way. This time I was a little irritated and asked that it be fixed again.
5 minutes later they returned with my sandwich only and said that this was actually correct. I started eating an noticed that there was still no mustard and tomato on my sandwich. At this point I was mad, but too hungry to care. I notified the worker that was helping us and told them I was not pleased, but I didn’t want a retry.
2 minutes later my fiance got her sandwich correct. As she began to eat, I was halfway finished with my sandwich and then bit into a sandwich toothpick that was placed inside my sandwich between meat. I have never been so mad before.
I told the worker and she first offered a remake and then a dessert. I refused both as I no longer trusted the cooks in the back to not mess with my meal. She then offered to take care of the meal in a refund and asked for my receipt. I gave it to her and never saw her again. I had to ask the cashier to reprint my receipt. I never received the refund either.
I send in a complaint to their website and have also gotten no response back either.
I ordered the grilled chicken salad.. I got it before and thought it was decent, just a little stingy with the add ins. Still good.
My salad today was missing both the chicken and the bacon. That was a big disappointment, a pretty boring salad without it. There was a lot of pepper added as well, it’s not on the ingredients and wasn’t on my last salad.
I feel like they were just winging it with my salad today.
Anyway, McAllister’s is the closest thing to a real deli that I have found in West Valley so far. That said of the other two or three options that are so-called delis McAllister‘s is the best for two reasons, one price and two variety. My sandwich soda and side cost $15. not bad. The so-called deli across the street would have cost me over 30. In fact the last time I was there it was 35 for a sandwich side and a drink but that’s another story.
This time around I got the beef and cheddar with horseradish sauce. Really good. I was not even hungry for that when I came in there, but I saw it on the menu and had to have it. I will say the cucumber salad was a little disappointing. they should just call that tomato salad. And their sweet tea was good as well. Service is really good and the place is clean. If it were closer to me I’d probably go there once a week at least. Frankly, it couldn’t be in a worse location. Nobody wants to be on that part of bell road.
