I usually like McAllister’s Deli. Today I was disappointed. I ordered online at noon, we got there at 12:15pm and still had to wait 15 minutes for the food. The soup was warm, not hot. My sandwich was burnt. The guy taking orders was not in a hurry. When the receipts dropped on the floor, he looked down, but did not bother to pick them up. Even when some stuck to his shoe.

I wanted a pick 2 with a full sized potato. She said it can only be a half size potato with a pick 2. I said I wanted a full size potato. She told me it would be $18.10. For a French dip, what I thought was a full size potato and a large sweet tea. If there is no way to ring that up then I guess I have to pay that amount right? So charge me what it costs and I’ll pay it right?
OK here is the funny part. I hand her a $20 bill and tell her I’ll give her the change, just give me a second. She’s looks puzzled. I teach in my pocket and I only have 9 pennies. I asked if she could let me slide on a penny. She shakes her head no. I think to myself it’s just a penny who would ever care?
Wait it gets better. She takes the $20 and gives me back 1 dollar, 3 quarters and 4 dimes! In case you went to school where this girl must have, that’s $1.95. An extra five cents which is 5 times the amount she wouldn’t let me slide on. She even told me she’s not sure if it’s the right amount of change! The change is trivial but it’s laughable. If you handle cash you have to make sure the change is right. You don’t just hand them money without checking. They weren’t even busy. There was 1 person behind me in line. Imagine going to a bank and they just hand you some money and tell you to count it because they didn’t!
I gave her the extra nickel back, because I’m honest. She was really monotone and sounded completely disinterested in her job. She wasn’t very friendly. I thought she was rude but she might be on some new meds or something.
She’s a kid, probably younger than 20 years old. If I had to guess I’d say 18. I hate to tell on her but maybe they can explain to her the importance of handling money.
I wouldn’t even complain, but I live 20 minutes away and this was a special order for my daughter.
I get home, and i only have half a potato. That’s not OK. If you can’t ring up what I want as part of a deal then I guess you have to charge me full price right? So she should have done it.
It’s unfortunate they hired a cashier and didn’t make sure she knew how to take orders and make change.
Maybe I’m being petty but my daughter was really disappointed with only half a potato.
Also I want to complain about them not wrapping up my au jus. Can you put some plastic around it? They put it on there with the sandwich on top of the spud, which caused me to not check the spud as I didn’t want to spill it. And it’s not secure in the bag. Sitting in there like they do.
I like this place but they need to do better than this. They could have sold me the whole potato and saved a bad review, which was originally 5 stars.

I’ve brought my mom here a few times for lunch. It’s nice to spend this time with her as she ages. The food was tasty and well portioned. I didn’t care for the chicken and dumpling soup, but I’ll just avoid that in the future. Their shareable nachos are good. The club sandwich is good. The Turkey jelepeno crunch sandwich was tasty. Their Mac and cheese tastes like KFC Mac and cheese. The potato salad nice. The strawberry lemonade is refreshing. My mom likes the Reuben and their horseradish sandwiches. She can only eat half and takes home the other half. The service is top quality. My only complaint is that it’s usually too cold inside when we eat. I need to remember to bring a sweater for my mom. If I’m cold, then she definitely is cold.

8/31/23 Editing my review back from 3 to 5 stars because after the last three dining room visits the temperature has been quite reasonable. Service continues to be excellent.
Friendly service, great food!
Every time we come it is incredibly cold in the dining room. I have mentioned it to a team member, but was told that they are not able/allowed to adjust the temperature. Today I brought a thermometer. I’m usually warmer than the rest of my family, but I shiver in the 62.1°F dining room.

My husband and I stopped in here the other day to order takeout. When we arrived inside their system had gone down so we had to wait a little while. The customer service we received was excellent. She even gave us a card for a free meal for our patience. The food was excellent as always! Definitely recommend this McAlister’s.

The food is decent but significantly overpriced! A wrap, and sandwich shouldn’t cost nearly $15 each. A kids ham sandwich is $8 . 2 cups (not bowl) of soup is $12-13 . Then for the second time in a row, they forgot my $3 cookie in my doordash order . I called the store and she was completely uninterested in what I was telling her about them continuously missing items from my order. This food should not cost what it does for a Deli quality experience.

Went on a Sunday, girlfriend ordered a BLT, went to pick it up and stood in like for almost 20 mins with 1 person ahead of me who was Spanish and having trouble ordering, no issue whatsoever. There were multiple employees in the back just standing there joking around, no one came to hand me my to-go order and just let it sit there while I stood there and looked lost. After a fortnight the gentleman at the counter finally was able to hand me my order. Got home, girlfriend has a panic attack because the lettuce is brown and rotting, avocado was brown and stunk, I honestly have no idea how that sandwich even came out of a business kitchen, it looked like a bridge troll had it saved inside a Walmart bag for 3 days letting it get ripe before he feasted. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We ordered takeout tonight online, my husband went to pick it up. Once he got there he said the line was out of the front door and they were packed. The woman at the register greeted him and checked to see how much longer and they were just finishing up. When we opened our food everything was correct, even with us changing up the sandwiches and potatoes. And it all tasted great!

We got two BLTs, lemonades and cookies. The only reason couldn’t give 5 because literally our lemonades were entire cup of ice for over $3.79 each. We live for the lemonade so this was very disappointing
