Authentic Peruvian food! The food we ordered tasted like what we had in Peru. Everything we had was delicious, reasonable price, and very friendly staff. My favorite ones are the chicken fried rice, of course the Peruvian chicken, Brussel sprout, fried yuca (it’s soft in the inside and crispy outside), mussels and the empanadas. We definitely will go back there to try other dishes. They also have gluten free selections. They told us that they have Latin night on Saturday. We might check it out.

I took advantage of the Tuesday All Appetizers 1/2 Price special and tried the Mostrito Salchipapa! What a delicious treat! The chicken was amazing and the combination of the other flavors (Peruvian sausage, fried egg, and French fries) made this an outstanding choice. I highly recommend. Service was awesome as well.

Great service (thanks again, Kevin!) and amazing food! I end up in this area just once a year and make a point to eat here every time, and somehow I have a better experience every time. I respect the authenticity despite Peruvian not being the most common cuisuine in the area. If you’ve never had Peruvian corn before, you’ve never known how corn is supposed to taste! Id also try the civiche and paella. I had these with the causal atun- a dish I’d never heard of before which really deserves to be world famous.Great food, drinks, and wonderful staff. Highly reccomended for anyone looking for Peruvian or try something new!

This is an amazing place, really delicious food and I’ve ordered many different things on the menu. It’s always fresh and the chef owner Jorge is a very inviting and delightful host that makes sure you’re satisfied. My favorite thing is the 1/2 roasted chicken and plantains but anything you get will be better than you expected. Maybe my favorite place in Frederick!

(Dec. 2025) Nice to revisit the place again, 2 years later, at dinner time on the way to Maryland. The price has go up for quite a bit. SPANISH OCTOPUS LEGS – PARRILLERO ($37.99) is still great! Even my kids love them and unfortunately not enough to share. 1/2 Chicken Roasted Chicken ($20.99) which comes with 2 huge sides and this can probably feed 2.5 people on its own. EMPANADA TASTING ($14.99) is great to try all 3 options they offer. MAYTA’S CAMARONES AL AJILLO GF ($16.99) and Chicha Morada (Peruvian Purple Corn Juice, $5.5) is probably our least favorite in this visit; they just don’t taste as special. We left the place with one to-go box.

The waitress pointed us to the wrong drink selection and we accidentally ordered the $4.5 juice. They did correct it later for the wrong information we were given ( the whole time we were really impressed how great the free drinks were but turned out to be a miscommunication). Overall, still please with the food quality. We also order grilled octopus and octopus ceviche. I like them but kids don’t. Will definitely visit here again.

I finally had the time to try out this restaurant. The inside was super cute.
I ordered a lunch special to go and was told that I couldn’t get the drink I wanted because it wasn’t a part of the lunch special. He told me that I could order a soda or lemonade. So I got a lemonade, but 5 minutes later I was told that they were actually out of lemonade.
I think the food is overpriced. I paid $19.00 for a lunch special, just to receive 4 of the smallest chicken wings I’ve seen in my life, and a very bland tasting chicken entree. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly though. Sad to say that I won’t be back.

The food was soooo good. We ordered Pollo Saltido, Steak Kabobs with roasted vegetables, and fried Brussel sprouts. It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Mayta’s restaurant was very warm and inviting. They had a large drink menu and a full bar. Service was fantastic. The server was prompt and accommodating. I’ve been wanting to go check this place out. Now I wish I’d gone sooner. Definitely will be back.
