Always fabulous choice. Coleslaw was off though, think it had mustard powder or something in it. It was not the usual standard for their Calabash style of seafood, but still everything else business as usual. If you love fried fish & shrimp you’ll love all the Mayflower restaurants!

I’ve heard about Mayflower restaurants in North Carolina for years, but I never had the opportunity to eat at one. I also learned today that they are all different owners. Anyway, I was in Wilson today for my son’s baseball game and wanted to eat somewhere that we don’t have at home. I love seafood, so this place was my choice. We were not disappointed! I ordered the “Fried Captain Smith’s” combination platter. I was very impressed with the amount of food that I got for about $21. Never at home would any restaurant give that much food for that price. The sweet tea was good also. I’m a sweet tea drinker, and I am picky about it. The fried food was a little salty for me, but that’s not a problem. I’m just not a person who likes or uses salt. Everything was flavorful. My granddaughter joined me, ordering the children’s chicken tender meal. An adult couldn’t eat all of that food. I’ve never seen chicken tenders so big before! You get three tenders that appear to be one breast cut into thirds. I was expecting scrawny strips. Not at all! There was a pile of crinkle fries to go with it. My granddaughter loved the hushpuppies. Little kids are so picky. This menu has so much to offer. I loved the restaurant’s theme inside. It’s definitely nautical. The staff is attentive, taking care of their customers and are inviting. It’s about an hour and a ten minute drive from
my house, and I would absolutely make it again just to eat here! I mentioned my son, but he rode home with his school and wasn’t able to experience what we did. His school bus stopped at Parker’s Barbecue. To be simple, he wasn’t impressed. Back to Mayflower, check them out if you enjoy seafood.

It’s good to see that this discount seafood restaurant is surviving esp. with the recent folding of K&W. The food was plentiful and consistent with what I’ve had at other Mayflower restaurants. Take-out staff was very attentive.

First time I’ve been to Mayflower in many years. I was disappointed. I tried the popcorn shrimp and oysters combo. The shrimp were good, maybe a bit overdone but edible. The oysters were not good. They had a strange taste so I didn’t eat but one. The manager took them off my bill. I was pleased with that. Service was OK and the food did come out quick. Handicapped parking was full as usual.

This location is by far better than the Roanoke Rapids location! Friendly service every time and great food! I will drive 4 hours just to eat seafood at this location, it is worth the drive every time.

The crab legs were quite a letdown…… very little meat, which means either not in season or frozen for extended time. The cooking style was good though, with little cajun spice to kick it up. Suggest other items on the menu.

The Mayflower is good place to get your seafood fix if you’re in Wilson, NC. Mrs. Marie greeted us at the door and provided excellent customer service. She was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations did not disappoint. I had the 4 item combo: shrimp, scallops, flounder, and oysters with a side of fried okra. Let’s just say I had to finish the rest of my food later that day. I highly suggest you stop on by and ask for Mrs. Marie. You’ll be pleased.

This was a very unpleasant experience. I would not recommend eating here if you are looking for quality or seafood. I ordered a small flounder dinner and was only able to complete a single piece. The fish was tainted, I became sick to my stomach. The focus for the individual running the restaurant that day was to remove the cost of the meal as opposed to checking on ME the customer and checking the QUALITY of the FOOD. Eddie our server was pleasant and attempted to accommodate us.

I loved the Goldsboro Mayflower; unfortunately, it closed. The Wilson location is the next best. Portions are massive, the price is very reasonable, and the food is goid.
