The interior design is gothic and beautiful, which immediately sets the mood for the evening.
There is a large selection of cocktails and flights, so it was hard to pick which drink to try tonight.
I ended up getting the Mamango (i think) and it was delicious. Smokey and mango but if you’re not a mezcal person then it will taste like a cigarette (according to my partner). Not to worry, as there are plenty of tequila drinks, and they also have some beer and vodka.
I can’t wait to come back and try something new!
is pregnant and something like that as a mocktail is really impressive!
The people here are kind, the drinks are delicious and if you haven’t been you’re missing out, highly recommend!!
Once inside, the decor struck me — warm lighting, Mexican-inspired tile and wood accents, and a comfortable bar area where you can see the cocktails being crafted.
The drinks are definitely a highlight. They specialize in mezcal and tequila, with over 60 varieties mentioned on the menu.
I tried a creative cocktail that blended smokiness with citrus and found it more interesting than your typical bar drink. The bartender was knowledgeable and offered a really solid recommendation.
The food matched the drinks nicely. We shared some small plates — the guacamole and chips were fresh, and the trio tacos hit the spot. The menu shows things like chipotle honey salmon and hearty quesadillas if you’re feeling something more substantial.
Service was friendly and attentive; we felt welcome and well-taken care-of. The noise level was comfortable (not whisper quiet, but lively enough to enjoy the atmosphere without shouting).
If I were to pick two things that held me back from giving 5 stars:
The price point is on the higher side (for both drinks and food) — you’re paying for the ambiance and craft.
While the place isn’t oversized, it can get busy later in the evening, so if you prefer a quieter setting it might be better to go earlier.
Bottom line: If you’re after a stylish night out with top‐tier agave spirits, inventive cocktails, and good Mexican food in a fun East Village spot, Mayamezcal is a strong bet.
baby arugula, caramelized pears, toasted pecans,
pomegranate seeds and warm goat cheese with balsamic
vinaigrette. It’s very cozy, we sat at the small bar downstairs but they have a nice upstairs space as well. Go!
