See what’s behind the red velvet curtain of the newly re-imagined May Baily’s Place. This Creole-style cottage was once one of the first and most notorious bordellos of New Orleans’ Storyville red-light district. Come discover a boudoir-inspired escape, where sultry sips and hand-crafted cocktails mingle with burlesque art and indulgent fabrics and textures.

This elegant, Victorian-inspired lounge in the Dauphine Orleans Hotel was once a brothel.

Hidden gem in the French Quarter. Kate is genuine and lovely and made one of the best French 75s I’ve had in the city. With comfy and varied seating, this place feels elegant while still being approachable. We look forward to returning the next time we visit the city.

This is a nice place, relatively quiet and off the chaos of Bourbon St. It seems to be angling itself as a sort of speakeasy or craft cocktail bar. I would give five stars, but the service from the bartender needs serious improvement. Very unwelcoming, snaps at people ordering when there’s a group (if you don’t want too many people at your bar at once then don’t have the ghost tours start there), bluntly says things like I can only make one drink at a time. Was very indifferent to us, couldn’t be bothered to walk our drinks 7 feet to our table even though there was nobody else in there. But we did notice had the ability with certain people to be pleasant so it was intentional it seems.

Had our first trip to NOLA just before Halloween and stayed at the Dauphine. Our room was right above May Baily’s, so we spent a few evenings at the bar enjoying a few drinks. Kate was super friendly and attentive to us, as well as the other patrons. There were times it was very quiet, and then all of a sudden the place was full and hopping with activity. We really enjoyed stopping in for a drink before heading out for the evening or heading up to our haunted room for the night.

A hidden gem! Beautiful remodel that takes you back in time. Kate makes the best Sazerac I had in New Orleans, and she had lots of great advice about the rest of the city. I came for a cocktail and was so impressed I stayed for three!

Very strong drinks that are worth the money. Love the spooky vibes. Just wish they served snacks or food at night.

We saw this place on Buzzfeed Unsolved and had to check it out while we were on our honeymoon. Can confirm- haunted. Also, great atmosphere and drinks! Quieter and just a hop skip away from Bourbon
