Went here for brunch with the family. Our server, Katherine, was excellent. The atmosphere, view, decor, and staff were all lovely. Our orange juice for the mimosas was fresh. The ham and cheese omelette was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the hash browns were perfect and crisp without being greasy. I got the french toast as well, and while it was good, I wasn’t blown away. I asked Katherine which she liked more between the french toast and the mac and cheese, and she recommended the french toast because they made it unique. It wasn’t very unique but still delicious. My sister got the Belgian waffle and enjoyed it. My mother got the Chesapeake omelette (not pictured), which was good, but didn’t have any cheese. We told our server and she talked to the chef, who said he didn’t put enough in there, but would love to make us a free dessert. We decided on the chocolate cake, so that we could take some home, but it was so incredibly tasty that we ate all of it, despite being stuffed from the food earlier. I got a latte to go along with dessert, but it wasn’t anything to write home about, just average. Overall it was a fantastic morning, the valet gave us parking help, all of the staff is very friendly and Katherine was excellent!

Such a lovely place, great for date night. Second floor is very private and quiet, which I was looking for. Started off with fried oysters, which were fresh and prepared very tasty. Also had Max’s poutine, loaded french fries, which was nice, but I’m not huge fan of that dish. I had their special of the night, which was recommended by server, chimichuri steak with mashed potatoes and veggies, such a great combination of flavours, I really enjoyed it. Shrimp & grits was also a great presentation, with nice soury kick. Server was easy going, with a lot of knowledge! Since it was special night for fiance and me, we got champagne on the house. Everyone were just so nice and welcoming. Really impressed by this restaurant, will be back to try other good French stuff!

Fantastic. Just moved to Jackson Ward and am still eating my way through, this place is a gem. We were able to get a table by the bar on a Friday night, without reservations for the two of us. Great service, delicious cocktails, ambiance is cozy, details are thoughtful, and just amazing food. Was just really special to experience something refined just a walk away from my house and it made our Valentine weekend so special.

Love the ambiance. Ask for brian at the bar, he is awesome! Good drinks! If you like escargots, they have a variant that is a must try. The bread is phenomenal and as far as main course you can’t go wrong. Love the place had a good time!

Came into Max’s for a quick lunch and they did not disappoint! When you walk in it almost feels as if you step back in time. I get a traditional French vibe from the place.
I was greeted and sat immediately. My waiter, John, did great explaining some of their dishes to me and even told me about the special of the day.
I ordered the Apple Curry Chicken Salad with the Bacon potato salad. The chicken salad was okay…just very different. The croissant it was served on was perfectly light and flaky. The bacon potato salad was fantastic. Really great flavor.
The overall experience was great, my only complaint was that my chicken salad had a few small bones in it. I like that they made it from fresh chicken breast but I bit down kind of hard on one. Don’t let this deter you though…it is definitely worth a visit.

Always enjoy my experiences here. Food is fresh and delicious. Wait staff is professional and friendly. I love the atmosphere, French bistro, exposed brick, hardwood floors upstairs, outdoor seating, nice view from upstairs. Recomend highly for lunch, dinner, business or romantic evening

Update:
4 years later and just as amazing as I remember! Great staff, super accommodating and delicious meal. Got calamari and an enormous pretzel with beer cheese. The food was excellent, came out quick, and I enjoyed the beautiful weather on their patio.
Great staff, and amazing food. They also have Valet parking, which is very convenient. The management is very responsive and great with the clientele. I felt like a regular after just one visit.

We really enjoyed our dinner at this French restaurant. It’s in a convenient location downtown. Thankfully, they offer complimentary valet parking because it was impossible to find parking nearby on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is nice and everything smelled delicious. We were greeted with a lot of smiles and sat at a cozy table upstairs. It was easy to make a reservation on Open Table. It was hard to decide from all the enticing options on the menu. The mushroom risotto was amazing. We also loved the truffle macaroni and cheese and the catch of the day. I loved that there was a kids menu so my daughter could get her favorite, a grilled cheese sandwich. We were glad we ordered dessert because the double chocolate bread pudding was phenomenal. The vanilla crepe brûlée was also very good, but that double chocolate bread pudding was so surprisingly sensational. We will definitely eat here again when we’re in the area.

We came here for Richmond Brunch Weekend and had a reservation for 18, which is kind of absurd on a busy weekend. However, they handled it so incredibly well. We got served quickly, attentively taken care of and water glasses always filled. Plus, the food was delicious. It’s also nice eating at a place that cares about giving back to the community.

I’m here for mimosas for lunch! Mimosas all day. It’s very fine and fancy dining with great food and good customer service.
The food was delicious and a mix of fine dining and some classics. The ambience is chic and private with a great selection of wine and other drinks. I’m not a big fan of mussels but I liked how this was prepared in a ‘stray’ sauce.
