I have been trying to find a better bagel than Max’s’ for at least 5 years.
I’ve failed.
They have the best around. Full stop.
Ignore the swarm of bitter boomers complaining about drive thru issues, and prices raising to more than $.05c a bagel and you will find a charming delicious spot with phenomenal character.
10/10.
THE BAGELS: Finally decided to go with a five star because MOST people will go there for the bagels AND the bagels are great! Crispy outsides chewy insides just as a bagel should be. If you’re looking for a bagel, you can’t go wrong here.
AMBIANCE: Now, on to the other side. If you’re looking for a place to eat breakfast with some atmosphere, you won’t find it here. “Perfunctory” is the word that comes to mind. Plastic ware, baskets and napkins, functional tables and chairs self-serve coffee… that’s what you’ll get here.
BREAKFAST: If you’re looking to have a good breakfast with your bagel, forget it. “Afterthought” would be the word to best describe their breakfast offerings. I ordered bacon, egg and a sesame bagel, along with a tea (forget my tea Latte). The bagel was great but the bacon and egg looked and tasted like they picked it up at the nearby McDonnalds and slapped it on a plate.
BOTTOM LINE: My key question with every place I review… Would I come back? The answer… YES, for a dozen bagels but a most definite NO for breakfast.
The selection is impressive, offering everything from traditional plain and sesame bagels to exciting options like everything and cinnamon raisin. It’s not just about the bagels – the sandwiches are where Max’s truly shines. Each creation is a work of art with generous fillings bursting with flavor. Whether you’re craving a classic bacon, egg, and cheese or something more adventurous like the Western, Max’s has you covered. And let’s not forget the service – the staff here are always friendly and efficient, making sure your order is just right every time. If you’re a bagel lover like me, Max’s Bagels is an absolute must-visit. You won’t be disappointed!
I purchased a bagel sandwich (chicken salad on jalapeño bagel); drink, chips, and side cream cheese for $13.07.
I really enjoyed the sandwich. The bagel was warm, soft and tasty. The chicken salad was perfect. I will definitely be back again. This place is a gem.
15 MINUTES to process a payment. My meal came out to $12.80 for a drink, a tiny bag of kid size chips, and a bagel sandwich. I should have gone next door to subway ,literally next door and ate a complete meal for half the price. Mind you this place for being #1 rated in the east coast is definitely a 1 Star rating. This place was empty and I sat alone in the place which I think if it was #1 rated people would coming from all over. Dont be fooled by the sign.
Selection was limited when we got there, though (ran out of everything, my favorite).
Wouldn’t recommend the Western bagel–it was quite bland.
Servers were nice.
Coffee was -2 stars.
