The location of Max’s Bar and Grill (still open) in Long Branch, NJ.

The place has a great location right next to the beach. I’d imagine this is great for tourist and local business in the summer.

Max’s Bar & Grill in Long Branch is a great spot to grab a bite and a drink near the shore. The food is solid across the board, portions are generous, and the bar always has a good energy to it. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or hanging out with friends, it’s an easy place to feel comfortable. Service is friendly and the atmosphere fits the Long Branch scene perfectly. Definitely a go-to spot in the area.

Max’s is an iconic restaurant that has been around close to forever. It’s a great place to get one of those. Really big hot dogs, like the windmill, except you can also get beer here. The grilled and fried foods are standard for this type of place and the quality is pretty much what you would expect. More than anything, it’s an iconic place to visit.

Best boardwalk style Hot Dogs! We started with a nice cold beer – I had blue moon and better half had Kona. For appetizer we shared fried zucchini with the horseradish sauce. It was hot, crunchy, and fresh. For the dogs, I had the Italian while he had the spicy jockey. They also have a kid’s menu. Service was great! We have been customers for years and will continue.

The hot dogs were mostly inedible. Extremely over cooked and burned. You couldn’t even chew the burned skin, had to literally spit it out. The chili is nothing but tomato sauce with some meat in it. The pretzel was ok, the boneless wings were ok but nothing to write home about. Service was very slow. Employees yelling to each other, no organization, didn’t know what table the order went to. NEVER AGAIN + $8 for a hot dog, $14 for a burger – ridiculous. $5 at Windmill 2 minutes down the road and edible.
For a Really great hot dog and a fantastic chili dog. You have to go to TEXAS WEINERS 1 IN PLAINFIELD.

I visited this place the other night, eager to try their hot dogs since I’m a big hot dog guy . I ordered their classic plain footlong hot dog, which was quite disappointing. It was extremely dry and lacked any noticeable flavor. All the taste seemed to come from the mustard. I then decided to try the chili cheese dog, but it wasn’t any better either. To make matters worse, the food was quite expensive. In comparison, the windmill down the road offers a much better option.

Stopped here on a mini hot dog tour. Overall decent dogs not bad, but not great. We ate here right after Windmill, which is a tought act to follow. The place is very clean & the staff were nice. I would rate the hot dogs 3 stars but since we didn’t have any of the other food, I will give it an overall 4 so as to damage the average rating for the place.

Such a sweet spot with retro decor and friendly service. The food is great! We tried a few different gourmet hot dogs and they were delicious! I recommend the New York style dog. Max’s is a great place for dining with a family. It’s relaxing there and we had a good time and a good meal. We’ll be back in the summer!

Quiet Labor Day. The hot dogs we had we enjoyed. The service was good and friendly but a little slow for a mostly empty restaurant. Would certainly go again.

LONG BRANCH: Max’s Bar and Grill piqued our attention after being featured on the TV show Kitchen Nightmares, which is surprising that they were even on the show because they have been a staple in the area for almost 100 years! 2028 will be their 100th anniversary! They are famous for their hot dogs, and they also have a full menu to please anyone’s palette. A full bar and local beers complement the American-style menu and it is a spacious space to watch the game and meet people from all over the world! We met a couple visiting from Barcelona who were on their own tour of Bruce Springsteen history. Best of all, leashed and friendly dogs can join you inside and they are always pet friendly. Brie tip: take a photo with the awesome Long Branch, NJ mural on the front of the building.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Max’s Hot Dogs, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! The hot dogs were delicious, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. I also tried the mozzarella sticks, which were recommended by the friendly bartender MK, and they were absolutely fantastic! Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside – just how I like them. The atmosphere was lively, the service was top-notch, and the food was simply amazing. I highly recommend stopping by Max’s Hot Dogs for a mouthwatering meal!
