I had been wanting to try the brisket here since I heard this place existed and let me tell you it was worth the wait! We got there late afternoon and told the staff we’d never been there and they were so friendly and helpful explaining all the options for us. Showed us some of the meats before ordering and really were personable. We decided on the brisket meal, which is 1lb of smoked brisket, and cream corn casserole, the vinegar coleslaw and spicy dill pickles (made in house too!). My husband got the special beef rib meal and same sides as me. The bark on the beef rib he said was amazing! So meaty and tender, the meat literally fell off the huge bone. The brisket was also so tender and had great smoky flavor and bark, and virtually no fat at all. The corn casserole caught me off guard with how soupy it was, I thought it was going to be more like a tradition corn cake casserole, it did have good flavor but the texture was weird. I would not get that as a side again. The spicy pickles have a kick and were tasty. The slaw was good too. There is minimal seating inside maybe 7 barstools, and tables and chairs outside. We went upstairs and there is a huge table set up there, which we sat at, even though they use the space as storage as well. The owner came up and chatted with us when we were eating, such a nice couple. We will for sure be back, and I really can’t wait!

Where do I begin? The owner told me this was 10 ounces of brisket in my sandwich. That looks to be wayyyyyyy more than 10 ounces and I am not complaining because it was delicious! There is a bottom bunsomewhere underneath all that meat Then I moved on to the meatiest baby back ribs I have ever had along with a very tasty cream corn casserole. The food here is incredible

This is the best BBQ that I have eaten in Michigan. We got the ribs, brisket and chicken. The meat did not have too much fat and was skillfully smoked. We got the dirty rice as a side, but it really is a meal on its own. It is even better when you mix it with the collard greens. We sampled the salmon. It had a nice smoke taste without over powering the natural flavor of the salmon and it was not dried out. The owners are the cherry that rounded out our experience. They took the time to engage us and were warmly welcoming. The pride that they take in their craft is evident not only in the fanominal food, but also in how they treat customers. I am going to be visiting this place a lot and I highly recommend it. I got my money’s worth and then some.

I almost never leave bad reviews but this time I’m just annoyed.
Drove 20 minutes for the food but both the Ribs and the Brisket I ordered are extremely DRY and impossible to bite, it surprises me that I never knew ribs could be so hard, they tasted like dead wood. Besides the texture the meat was also bitter and very salty. These are just INEDIBLE.
After my order at 6pm the restaurant closed, so maybe this only happens when you are ordering later during the day? But hey if the food is so awful at the time, maybe the restaurant could close earlier…

I’ve been here about 5-10 times and I’ve always been impressed. The bark on all meats has a fantastic flavor and the portions are big enough for leftovers. Ribs are my favorite but brisket is great too

The Best Texas bbq restaurant in Michigan. Especially the brisket was exceptional. Salmon chowder was little salty but was full of flavor, and that corn thing was OMG. And the owners are very friendly!

Seriously is the best BBQ I have ever had, the brisket was incredible, and the ribs have a char that is killer!! Great work here #maxandbellas
Can’t wait to come back and try other items.
Only disappointment is not being able to dine-in due to the stay-at-home order.

I’m a Chef that dined here for my birthday in May. The brisket is the best I’ve had in MI and reminds me of Texas. The taste, texture, presentation and smoke on the brisket & ribs were perfect. The presentation & flavor of the chicken, corn and vinegar slaw were memorable. The dirty rice & salmon chowder are unique, surprising and noteworthy. The owner and his wife were extraordinary. You can tell their heart is in the food and love in every bite. My perfect meal is brisket, ribs, corn, dirty rice and slaw as a cleanser. Wish they were in my city but I’ll definitely visit this couple again. Thank you for the great food and conversation.

Truly a hidden gem of Plymouth! I tried the pulled pork and burnt ends. They were so delicious! The baked beans were sweet and cooked just right! I recommend showing up early as they sell out quick!

Just one of those beautiful American corner smokehouses which we Europeans envy so much… little house on the outskirts of Plymouth downtown. Quiet place, parking on the road. Friendly server and atmosphere, good prices. I had a half rack of ribs with pulled pork and sides. Loved all of it I am quite proud of my own ribs recipe but this was brilliant. The pulled pork was a little bit dry but really tasty. Last time I had the brisket which was also brilliant. Colossal American portions lovely place well done !
