We had great service and food- we got chips, salsa, and house made guacamole that were delicious. I had the house margarita and it was one of the best I ever had. We also shared the taco plate with cowboy beans and mexican rice, and they were also delicious. Our bartender was very friendly, and we met Andrea, the owner. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area!

We were greeted with the “you can sit wherever you like” but were then told we couldn’t pull the chair from another table to our table. That’s fine, let that one go since most of us have worked in the restaurant world. 3 out of 5 of us order Barbacoa and the spice is unbearable. Flavor was great but the heat was so intense you couldn’t taste anything after the first bite. As I said, we have worked in restaurants so I never want to send food back but we had to send this back. Well, that’s when we clearly ticked off the employees because the back of the house made sure to look at us and walk laps past us. The server, who was wonderful, was so worried to give us the check because they didn’t take all of the barbacoa items off. She got them to take 1 off, but we paid for the other 2. There was no manager who talked to us about it. No one to check in to hear from us, so we could assure them the flavor was there but the heat was too much! I own a business and would never let a customer leave without checking in after a negative experience. Not only did you lose our business, but you lost the 17 other family members who regularly come up to visit. This was not my first time at Mavericks but it definitely was my last.

This was an amazing find especially in the northwoods. Best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Everything especially the sides looked and tasted fresh and homemade. Would definitely recommend stopping here. The bar also had a wide variety of Tequilas. Great atmosphere and service was exceptional.

Pretty good Mexican food for being so far north. Really enjoyed the Queso and the Barbacoa is very spicy but good. Would go back to get my chips and queso fix while in the Northwoods.

This place is a amazing little gem. Way better than Nachos or el tarascos(not that those places are bad) Not a large menu but lets be honest do we need 80 things on a menu that we can’t pronounce and are so so? Everything they make is amazing. They have great attitude when we decend on them as a hospital and order 11 things all different ways. They even label to food boxes to eliminate confusion. Bravo!

Did a take out order of chips and salsa and a cheese quesadilla and brought it over to Rocky Reef brewery. Service for take-out was quick. The chips and salsa were really good with unique flavors, and seasonings. The presentation for the quesadilla wasn’t the only good thing about it, it was also a great addition to our beers. Will be back next time!

The TLDR to my 3 separate visits below (my parents live down the street year round and I visit often) is that I will NEVER dine in here again. I’m fine with getting take out earlier in the day, but this place does not know a thing about basic dinner service.
