Tonight was the first night eating here. The service and food were wonderful. We went for my birthday and I had a great time. We will definitely be going back. I would love to try more things. First visit to Mauricio’s in Cookeville, TN. We loved the appetizer (fried ravioli), and we enjoyed lunch together as a family. We had between us 4 entrees and 2 desserts. The homemade crème brûlée at Mauricio’s was incredible. Service was nice.
The problem is the Mauricio’s pricing tactic. Their menu offers regular and petite portions, but they choose not to ask which one you want when ordering. They default to the larger portion and charge the higher price unless the guest explicitly says “petite.” It feels deliberate — like the business model depends on customers forgetting, not on customers choosing.
Any justification they might give — “customers should know,” or “petite is optional to request” — only confirms the point. If a restaurant sets up pricing with size options and still avoids confirming the order, that is not an oversight. That is a strategy. And it’s the kind of strategy that leaves people feeling played.
Mauricio’s wins on flavor, but they lose our business. The pricing tactic at Mauricio’s got us once, but it also guaranteed we won’t return. You tricked us on the portion size, you got the bigger bill — congrats — but you lost the part that actually matters: repeat customers.

I have many dietary restrictions. I can’t eat soy, gluten, or dairy. It makes it very hard to eat out with my husband. I have not gotten to enjoy an Italian restaurant in a very long time, but Mauricio’s is now a place we can go! They were amazing. They made me a safe pasta dish. I’m always unsure if they actually made it correctly, but I felt great afterword. They were so nice about it too! So many places make it such an inconvenience that I just avoid eating out. We will definitely be back many times. Also their food tastes amazing, it’s beautiful inside, and everyone is so nice. It’s honestly not very expensive for the quality of the place and food. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely delicious Italian food. The restaurant is very authentic, and has a wide range of Italian food on its menu. The appetizers we ordered were amazing, but my main of the Spaghetti with Lamb meatballs were SUPURB! The pasta noodles were cooked just right and the lamb meatballs were so tasty and juicy. To top it all off, we ordered a Tiramisu which was SO GOOD. The cream was very fresh and the whole dish was amazing. I really liked this Italian restaurant and would highly recommend it if you want really good Italian cuisine in San Francisco.

My husband and I went tonight for the first time for our wedding anniversary, and it was amazing! The atmosphere is wonderful, the decor and character of the house are great eye candy as well as conversation starters. Our server AMANDA was very sweet and gave us great service! We enjoyed our food very much, infact my husband might be more in love with the lobster ravioli than me We absolutely enjoyed our visit. 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be going again. Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Five stars!

If you want a great Italian restaurant, this is the one!!! Great tasting food, great atmosphere in the old home turned restaurant and the hostess/ server care. Highly recommended if you want a NICE restaurant in Cookeville. Oh, and the drinks are made perfectly!
