This little restaurant is a Wellesley landmark and has been making generations of people happy. I started coming here as a young teenager and now that I’m almost 50 I still love coming here. Even during the 25 years I lived in California I would make sure I visited on every trip home. Personally, I recommend trying the Greek food that is on the menu, as it is all homemade and truly delicious. However, The diner style fare is also fantastic. I’m a big fan of their club sandwiches, great french fries, and their breakfast foods, especially the pancakes, hit the spot. Also, a wonderful family has run this from
the start.

I ordered breakfast. My omelette was pretty good, though the onions were undercooked. I also asked for my home fries to be well done and they weren’t. A note about the home fries; they were really nicely spiced. It was unusual, and they were very flavorful.
I had to keep asking for coffee refills. That may have just been a waitress issue, and not a restaurant problem.
The atmosphere is good; lots of different types of people were there eating. Seems to be popular.
Clean bathroom. Metered street parking.
I’d give this another try, but would go for lunch next time.

Another amazing google maps find. I had the beef shish kabob’s that were marinated and prepared to perfection. Super tender and flavorful. I also had the sweet potato fries that had great taste and not oily. My wife had the Caesar Salad that had a lot of fresh parmesan cheese and tasty dressing & croutons. Service was friendly. We liked the old school family run diner.

Awesome breakfast and lunch place. It’s been here for many, many years. Everyone comes here in town. Food is excellent and service has improved (they were short staffed during Covid and have recovered). Definitely a Townie place but there’s a reason for that!

A Wellesley native recommended Maugus to us, because we love a good family owned diner. I was very disappointed by everything. My mom is weird and she doesn’t know how to order like a normal person. She asked for 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon and 1 pancake. This seemed to really confuse our server. She had to repeat back the order several times, so I interjected, asking for a breakfast plate with bacon and a side of pancakes. Well she complety ignored me and I’ll admit, they did give her exactly what she ordered. 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon and 1 pancake but they charged us the full price for 3 sides! $5 for one sad piece of bacon! Our total was $55 for 2 of the worst undercooked Irish benedicts I have ever had, and 3 sides, and 1 cup of coffee. The home fries were pretty good though.

It’s a fine place for breakfast staples. Eggs, pancakes, and bacon were ok. They didn’t have a good breakfast combo, so it gets pricey fast if you wanted eggs AND pancakes with any meat. Most places in the area (and we’ve gone to a lot!) have some sort of combo/special for this.
