The restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms are also very clean. We googled this choice as a long road trip lunch stop! We had checked out the menu and were fairly certain what we wanted…. the Friday special was “50% off bottles of wine and po’boy specials.” I looked for the special po’boy on the menu but there wasn’t one… so we asked the waitress … was the po’boy on the menu half off? Nope! Hmmmmm, I’m thinking that sign needed punctuation to make that clear!
So, I ordered fish and chips. The amount of fish was smaller than the child size portion at a place on Virginia Beach. Cost of our meal for what we received was underwhelming to say the least.
My husband ordered clam chowder which was so over thickened with flour that it was aweful. His onion rings were spectacular. Honestly…. they were the only upside of the meal!
We were reminded today while dining in an upscale waterfront restaurant in Portsmouth NH of this disappointing meal at Matt’s. We shared a fisherman’s platter today that the half portion of the meal was larger than this fish & chips meal!

They have fresh oysters, oyster shooter was good, can’t compete with Japanese oysters shooter though. Fried oyster was ok, coleslaw was bland, need more seasoning, french fried cold, hard and dry, should substitute for something else people. Clam chowder was lil salty, probably left it for too long. Service was good though. Anyways, decent food and service, not bad

Went to the location in Bethany Beach. This was my first time. The restaurant does not take reservations and we came in at 7 PM on a Monday evening and had to only wait about 20 minutes. The service and food are delicious and they have specials on different days. Monday is it 25% off the check. We started off with the calamari which was extremely tender and not spicy. It was accompanied with a delicious tomato sauce, which was quite mild. One of us had the fish stew and the other one had the crabcakes both entrées were fantastic.

Cute little restaurant with a small dining room and fresh decor. Prices were a little steep for the portion sizes. Service was friendly but needed a little prompting.
We got the hot lobster rolls with butter and they were served with shredded lettuce between the lobster and the roll. I’ve never seen a lobster roll with shredded lettuce before. And there’s a reason for it. The lettuce was limp and gross. The lobster meat had a high ratio of claw meat. The fries were a little chewy and tasted like the oil was a bit old.
We didn’t think to ask what the price for the lobster roll was because the menu said market price. Most of the dishes were around $25. The lobster rolls were $34 each.
Overall (once the lettuce was removed from my lobster roll) the meal was still tasty. We would have given a higher rating if the prices were lower. For the price, we expected the quality of food to be better.

We were first timers at Matt’s. We stopped for a quick lunch and it was delicious. The service was friendly and fast. We both had the warm lobster roll and the lobster was divine, bread warm toasted and buttery, served with more melted butter if you wanted.

Matt’s Fish Camp makes very good cocktails and prepares seafood well. My wife raved about how much she liked the green beans and calamari.
The happy hour buck-a-shuck oysters, from Virginia, were amazing. The raw clams were small and sweet, just the way I prefer.
The entrees were all under 20 dollars and the drinks were modestly priced, at least by our standards (We live on Philadelphia.).
The service is friendly and professional.
Anytime I’m in the area, Matt’s Fish Camp is where I’m going.

First time at Matts’s in Bethany. Food, drinks, service were outstanding. Restaurant warm, cozy, and clean! Highly recommend a seafood dish as there are many options, the Ipswich clam entree & the warm lobster roll were off the chart! Also, I really enjoyed my Belvedere rosemary martini.
Big shout out to our server, Pat! Also to the manager Kiki who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant! Perfect spot for lunch, I will be back!

Fried shrimp was excellent. We were at State Park and Big Chill was 45 minute wait. Highly recommend the 4 minute drive here.

A super unexpected experience! The service, the menu, the music and the wine were impeccable… the carbonara with clams is a luxury. The Spanish wine was impeccable and the attention of the team was top notch. The images speak for themselves.

We’ve passed by Matt’s Fish Camp all the time. We finally decided to check it out and weren’t disappointed. The place is very inviting, the people are nice and professional. The onion rings were beautifully humongous and yet still crispy. They seem to love putting paprika in and on everything. I loved it! The New England Clam Chowder was delicious, if not traditional. My family tried the fish and chips, Cajun chicken sandwich, cod fried fish sandwich and I chose the the grilled Mahi. Everything was delicious. My fish came out undercooked but because the staff is so attentive they noticed just as I noticed and immediately had it re-cooked and comped my meal without even waiting for a complaint from me. I was really impressed by their good service. Great place!
