Although it’s only been a month since my first visit, I’ve come back multiple times and have never left disappointed. A great dive bar with friendly patrons and bartenders, a good pool community (including great pool tables!), and very reasonable prices. If those things interest you, definitely pay them a visit.

That was my Pop’s and his Pop’s local bar. We lived at 210 Welcome Ave and the 204. I popped in for a beer to honor them back in 2002 when I lived in TN and was up for a visit. Cool place and a cool crowd. Someone overheard me tell the bartender and they liked the idea of drinking one for Dad and Grandpop.

Matthew’s tavern has been in Norwood under different names for over sixty years. The decor is dated. The drinks are moderately priced. It’s a nice neighborhood bar. they allow smoking .

Bartender on Saturday night was horrible. Didn’t pay attention to her customers; actually I should say all of her customers. I guess if you werent a friend of hers or a regular you were not worth her time. I’m normally a great tipper but I honestly cringed leaving her a couple dollars but not sure if it’s because I felt cheap or bc I shouldn’t of given her anything?!?! And it wasn’t just that it was the attitude along with it! I have never been spoken to as if I was annoying someone to do their job like that before!
This is the second time I’ve been in and the bartender was even less than adequate, I was looking for a new home since moving here I think I will cross this one off the list! Place was cool, customers and bar itself were decent but if the bartender sucks that’s a deal breaker.

Great place but they don’t let me drink here anymore cause last time I was here I drank away all my money and resorted to licking the last few drops from people’s empty mugs after they left. Bartender said I was the 2nd worst Alcoholic they’ve ever seen there.
