Very nice family owned and operated business in the heart of downtown Nashville. People are as nice as can be. This place is worth the visit. I hit it on a busy day and they were pumping out GIANT cookies as fast as they could make them. They also have ice cream, fudge and other great items.

What a great spot, all homemade ice cream, cookies, and fudge. The service was awesome. Everyone was friendly. Wish we could’ve tried more of the treats. We got the Cookie Monster and shared it with the family and it was amazing. Three scoops of ice cream hot fudge on a homemade giant half pound cookie. They’re seating downstairs as well as upstairs. There’s a few ice cream places on the street, but this one’s definitely the best one. We will definitely be back. Can’t wait to try the other flavors of homemade ice cream.

We had to stop by to see this ice cream and cookie shop! I was attracted to the oversized cookies in the window shop what a great marketing idea! The moment we walked in it was a long line up but it was quick and efficient service.
There is fudge, over sized cookies, ice cream, cookies, drinks, pie and coffee. This dessert shop is truly a great place to visit when in Nashville. I chose the turtle crunch ice cream what a treat it was.

The staff that work there are beyond friendly, very inviting. You can see they enjoy making customers smile. They have a place to sit upstairs if you just want to enjoy your treat of the day.

Wow, what a fun little shop! Huge cookies (8″ diameter or so). Definitely good for sharing! We got our own (chocolate chip and M&M cookie). Nice soft/chewy cookies with just enough crunchy on the edges. Perfect balance. I loved that they were open late (midnight) and it was a great option for snacks before bedtime!

What can you say about Mattheessens? This is the best cookie place in the entire world! Was it the alcohol…. maybe, was it the because the cookies are as big as your head….. potentially, was it because the cookies are fresh and absolutely delicious…. definintely!!!! If you are in the Nashville area this is, in my opinion, a place you have to stop at!

Large half pound cookies! Wow. The oatmeal is the best, warm soft and tasty 8.9/10. The chocolate chip is lacking in complete flavor, maybe chunks instead of chips would be better but 6.9/10. The m&m cookie is good, just not great 6.7/10. Good cookie shop, spent almost $25 on 3 cookies though so you’ll pay a bit. I wouldn’t go back but maybe I would.

Ice cream was very good and portions were big. Cookies looked amazing, but what put this place over the top was the incredible staff. Hard to believe how engaging and fun they were in the middle of such a touristy area. 180 degree difference from ice cream place next door.

First time visiting this gem with my family while we were bar hopping in the downtown streets and OMG. We were walking and the smell stopped us in our tracks so yea, we had to turn around and go in lol. We had the chocolate cookie and a sugar cookie with sprinkles topped with cake batter ice cream. So good, and warm They have a huge selection of ice cream. Loved that they had extra seating upstairs too. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area!

I like that this shop is aside from the main strip, it makes it easy to come in and out of. The staff were friendly and the cookies were good, not great. They seemed like overpriced and a little dry versions of Crumbl cookies.

Mattheessen’s Ice Cream – Cookies – Fudge: A Nashville Icon You Can’t Miss

If you’re in Nashville and craving an authentic, homemade dessert experience, Mattheessen’s Ice Cream – Cookies – Fudge is the place to be. Located on Second Ave and Broadway, this iconic shop is a celebration of craftsmanship, quality, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel right at home.

Let’s start with the star of the show: their homemade ice cream. Made fresh daily with the finest ingredients, every scoop is a masterpiece. Rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor, it’s the kind of ice cream that reminds you why homemade is always better. Whether you’re a fan of classic flavors or something more adventurous, Mattheessen’s has something to delight your taste buds.

Then there are the cookies. The moment you step inside, the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cookies fills the air, drawing you in like a magnet. These cookies are warm, chewy, and absolutely divine—perfect on their own or paired with a scoop of their incredible ice cream. It’s no wonder they’re the only store on Second Ave and Broadway that lures you in with the smell of fresh-baked goodness.

And let’s not forget the fudge. Creamy, rich, and indulgent, it’s the kind of treat that makes you close your eyes and savor every bite. Whether you’re enjoying it as a standalone delight or gifting it to someone special, Mattheessen’s fudge is a must-try.

What truly sets Mattheessen’s apart, though, is the warmth and kindness of their team. During my visit, Hunter was an absolute delight—friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience for every customer. It’s this level of care and attention that makes Mattheessen’s stand out in the heart of Nashville.

Located at the vibrant intersection of Second Ave and Broadway, Mattheessen’s is more than just a dessert shop—it’s a destination. Whether you’re a local or a visitor exploring the city, this charming spot is a must-visit. The combination of homemade ice cream, fresh-baked cookies, and decadent fudge is simply unmatched.

If you’re in Nashville, do yourself a favor and stop by Mattheessen’s Ice Cream – Cookies – Fudge. It’s not just a treat—it’s an experience you’ll want to savor again and again. Five stars aren’t enough for this Nashville gem. Highly recommended!
