I’ve been here a handful of times and everytime has been great! I had originally gone for the aguas frescas, they’re ALL delicious. As far as food I’ve tried the carne asada fries, and most recently the green Chile chicken enchiladas and the portions were big! My daughter & I shared it and we got full on half. I would definitely recommend this place, great place to eat outside or eat on the plaza close by (for downtown location) the staff is always really great and friendly too.

Wanted a good meal at a decent price and they did not disappoint Saturday is a super deal day.
The rice and beans taste delicious and very authentic, not too salty or garlic.
Got the chicken flautas. A little dry but the red sauce(spicy) adds a good flavor.
The carne asada burrito was a huge hit with my son he loved the French fries added in and although it was a cheaper meat it still tasted good. Not over salted or cooked.
My daughter enjoyed carne asada tacos and was pleased with her kids meal. Basic but did exactly what I needed it to. My kiddo was happy and my Hubby winded up with a bowl. Next time he would prefer a different meal as it all blended in his option but the quantity of food was very filling and had great flavor.
The aguas were tasty as well.
Things to improve cleanliness of dinning room and bathrooms.

We love coming into Matteo’s! Atliziry helped us recently, She was warm and inviting from offering drinks to serving our meal. Absolutely the best customer service we’ve received in las cruces. She was a breath of fresh air. We will try to catch her again soon.

I’ve come here a couple times now and I’m able to confidently say this, this is by far some of the worst food I’ve ever tried in my 10 years of living in las cruces. The food has absolutely no flavor whatsoever so ever, I’m being so serious when I say this as well. The guac is basically just avocado, lettuce and water blend that looks like a green glob of goo. Nothing on their menu has season at all, it’s insane knowing influencers are genuinely praising their food when they know damn well there’s nothing special at all. People complain that “it’s for college students who are broke” not even the college students will touch it due to how much better food that’s cheaper is out there. You might as well go to el cometo.

We stopped by for mid afternoon lunch. It was a bit of a disappointment. We didn’t realize upon ordering that everything is an upcharge. The food was just okay – maybe due to the mid afternoon time, but still, we expected better. We likely will not visit again.

We are from out of state and felt very welcomed here. Polite and proffesional. We ordered the carne asada torta as well as brisket sope. My family was very pleased. Highly recommend the brisket quesadilla with the works. Aguas are sweet. Homemade flavor with a modern vibe and trust me on this one, dip fries in salsa.

Got the asada bowl for the first time, I will be getting it again and trying some of the others as well. This was my first time at this location. They are friendly here too! As usual the food was fresh and delicious! I love that the bowl has lettuce instead of rice, it isn’t as heavy which is perfect for lunch time. I got the strawberry mojito aguas fresca, my favorite!

Oh my goodness my taste buds are so happy right now! This is every last bit as good as it looks. I got the enchiladas, and one of these drink thingies. I eat a serrano pepper with just about every meal, but this is completely unnecessary, I warn you, it’s a little warm, but the flavors are amazing. You’ll definitely be seeing a while lot more of me.
