Mati is a great, upscale Greek food but approachable. My wife got the lamb shank which was perfect and I had the classic gyro, one of the best I’ve had. The owners are really nice and truly care about the food and their heritage. When in Greek Town, check this place out.

A most delicious anniversary dinner at MATI. The place is contemporary and more in line with current food found away from tourist areas in Greece. We had the trio dip to start and he had the lamb shank which was butter tender and I opted for the branzino deboned tableside. Totally amazing. The staff was super attentive and fantastic. Worth the traffic issues.

Reminiscent of being in Greece! New Greek restaurant in the heart of Greektown with an open atmosphere and excellent menu selections. Staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. Greek bruschetta was delicious as was the deconstructed Greek salad – true to how it’s served in Greece. Trio skewers and shrimp scampi were amazing! Highly recommend!! Also … late night fun is conveniently nearby at Avli on the rooftop and Three Legged Goat next door!

We’d had reservations elsewhere, however they wouldn’t honor them, and I’m so glad that happened!
We were seated immediately, our server, Anna (I think), was amazing, she went above and beyond.
All three of our meals and two appetizers were perfect! Drinks were delicious as well, we will definitely go back and I have to say this is one of my new favorites!

Lamb Shank was impeccable, fell off the bone. Nina’s service was fantastic, from beginning to end. She even took our photos! Though it was slow when we attended, I’m sure we would’ve received the same thorough and friendly service from the staff as a collective. Oh and I’m definitely returning for the Mati Martini!

Mati Detroit was outstanding from start to finish. We started with the saganaki appetizer with grilled pita — absolutely excellent. Both of us ordered the double smash burger with fries, which was cooked perfectly, very generous in portion, and incredibly delicious. I also had a bite of a guest’s steak, and it was perfectly prepared, super tender, and full of flavor.
The service was just as impressive — very attentive staff and management. Highly recommend if you’re anywhere near Greektown.
