They have gluten free pancakes. The skillets and omelets are gluten-free; there are a few, like gyro, that we can’t have. They all come with a side of pancakes.

This was my first time at Mateo’s Cafe. It was excellent! I read the reviews before making my decision and I agree with the previous reviews; large portions, delicious, and something for everyone. We arrived on a Sunday around 12. It wasn’t too busy and we ate within 15 minutes of ordering. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered a Chicken Melt (YUM) with fries; 10/10. My sister had a Tuscan Panini with chicken and rice soup; (7/10). My mom ordered an omelette with potatoes, biscuits and gravy. (8/10). She ordered it with no green peppers, however, it came with them. Our server replaced it and added an extra order of biscuits and gravy! She also didn’t love that the cheese wasn’t cooked into the omelette, only the top. I would go back again, costing about $55 after the tip!

If you’re not ready to wait a little bit or looking for a large restaurant, then this isn’t the place. However, if you’re looking for a great brunch and a LOT of it, it doesn’t get better in the Fox Valley. Holy geez! My wife had leftovers for dinner and the next day’s breakfast! I’ve never seen such a mound!
Wish they had mimosas on a weekend, but the service is great, the portions are nuts, and the food is excellent!

Mateo’s praise is well earned. Their skillets are monstrous (stacked almost as high as a coffee mug). I was barely able to finish it because I got toast and pancakes. But, I told the server, “Las cajas son para los que abandonan.” Anyway, she and and everyone else there are friendly and efficient. The place is bright and busy. I’ll go back again when this hombre is hambriento (hungry).

Service, staff and food quality make this café a must visit destination. The staff greeted everyone coming in the doors, which in this day and age, is sparse. The service was very attentive, yet not bothersome and the food. The there is the food. Portion sizes are very generous and omelets are superb. I had the eggs Benedict with biscuits and gravy as my side, and I must say I am somewhat of a hollandaise sauce snob…. they were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Omlet was filled and folded, not topped with toppings like you find at other places with fresh ingredients. Delicious food. Great service. Highly recommend!!

Recommended by a local when we were in town. Wow. The food was great and the service was amazing! We got there early enough to beat the crowd and they accommodated us quickly. The food was delicious and creative (the French toast especially). It got really crowded, but still 5 stars because they can’t help if they’re delicious! See you next time we’re in Appleton!

The atmosphere at Matos is actually quite nice—it has a great vibe and the setting is well-done. As for the meal, both the food and the service were up to my standards; the kitchen delivered what was expected, and the staff were professional and handled the table well.
However, the experience was significantly dampened by the unprofessionalism of the management. It’s disappointing to see a hardworking floor staff and a good kitchen being represented by such poor leadership. While the servers were doing their best to maintain a high standard, the management’s conduct was a clear weak link in the operation.
It’s a shame because the foundation for a great restaurant is there, but the lack of professional management makes it hard to want to return. I hope the ownership addresses this, as the rest of the team deserves better leadership.

Always outstanding food and outstanding service from this place. The food is made with the kind of care and love you can taste in every bite. The portion sizes will make your eyes pop out of your head, and for a price point that you can feel good about. The service is always top notch, even when the place is packed. I always leave full to bursting and with a smile on my face.

Our new fave place. Big shout out to Maria the host she’s very professional, helpful and kind, the waiter took a little to take our order it was very busy, and she came to our rescue. We appreciated that. The coffee was really good. We usually don’t like coffee in breakfast dinners but Mateo’s does know how to make coffee omg the dice potatoes are from another planet the flavor of the food was extra delicious.
