We visit Matcha Cafe Maiko pretty often because it’s my wife’s favorite ice cream spot. She’s not really an “ice cream person,” but the matcha soft serve here is one of the few desserts she genuinely loves—and I completely understand why.
We’ve tried matcha ice cream at other places, but Maiko’s version feels special. You can tell they use a generous amount of matcha—the aroma is strong and fragrant in the best way. At the same time, it’s incredibly well balanced: not overly sweet, not bland, and it doesn’t have that harsh bitterness some matcha desserts can have. It’s smooth, rich, and refined, with the matcha flavor shining through from start to finish.
Honestly, as an ice cream dessert—and especially as an Asian-style matcha soft serve—this might be one of the best versions out there. If you stop by, don’t leave without trying the matcha ice cream.
And from what I know, they have 20+ locations across the U.S., so chances are there’s one not too far from you—definitely worth visiting your nearest shop.

The whole cup of My drink was full of ice. Can barely taste the matcha or mix it w/ the ube.. I need to order it without ice to get my money’s worth. Need to improve customer service also!

Place was small but had a huge outdoor seating area.
The menu was pretty self explanatory and all had photos so it was easy to choose from.
I got the matcha ice cream, and it looks exactly the ones advertised.

I got the matcha and vanilla soft serve to go. It was good, but too pricy for a 6 oz. $8.22 with tax. Shouldn’t be more than $6 bucks.

The matcha usually hits, but unfortunately i may have gotten a bad batch or they might have changed the quality of their matcha for the soft serve. It’s usually smooth and a vibrant green, but the one I got was a dull green and not well incorporated

I ordered the banana cream matcha latte. It is banana flavored with Nilla wafer on top. I wanted to try it because banana cream matchas have been trending, and I was very intrigued. While I don’t LOVE banana taste, this matcha was enjoyable (especially with the wafers). If you don’t like bananas you probably won’t like this (obviously) but maybe you will!

When we first came in, we took a good 2-3 min to look at the menu so we didn’t mind that no one was at the front…until we were ready to order. Thankfully they have a bell.
The matcha ice cream tastes soo yummy and they give you a good amount!
Their decorations are cute and there are a lot of flavors to choose from.

The line moved quickly, and the staff was super nice. Just know what you want ahead of time and head straight to order,no need for attitude, and you’ll be good.
I stayed inside the shop since they serve fast and only call your number twice. I got their #9 Kuromitsu Kinako Matcha. Honestly, I was a little sad because I couldn’t taste much matcha, the kinako (roasted soybean powder?) flavor was really strong and kinda overpowered everything else.
That said, the color was spot on, and the shop itself is super cute. Worth a visit, especially if you’re into unique matcha combos!

WOW. I accidentally stumbled upon this place while looking at the maps around the area. We tried the matcha latte with the soft serve on top, and no joke, it was life changing. I’d say this is the perfect sweet treat to share with another matcha-loving person. It was huge! The soft serve was amazingly soft and creamy, and the actual drink under it was so delicious as well. You could tell that they use high quality matcha here. If I could rate this place six stars, I would.
