From the moment I walked into Matari Coffee Co., I was honestly blown away by how stunning it is. The entire space feels upscale and elegant, with beautiful gold accents throughout and a classy, refined atmosphere. There was a soft symphony of music playing in the background while everyone enjoyed their drinks, and it elevated the whole experience in the most thoughtful way, I loved that! It truly felt like a luxury coffee lounge.
You can immediately tell this isn’t just “another coffee shop.” They create exceptional Yemeni specialty grade coffee using top quality beans, and every single cup is crafted with care and precision. I watched them handcraft drinks one by one, and it was clear how much pride they take in making each order perfectly. That level of detail really stood out to me.
Mohamed, the owner’s nephew, was my cashier and he had the sweetest smile. He was so kind, patient, and welcoming. You can feel that this place has a strong family presence, and that warmth carries through the entire shop. I also had the chance to meet his dad, Omar, who is the owner’s brother. He was incredibly gracious, welcoming, and appreciative. I’ve been in contact with the owner, Mo, leading up to their opening, so I was very excited to finally come in and experience it for myself.
Now let’s talk about the amazing things I tried! I ordered the caramel butterscotch Frappuccino and a blueberry fruit cone. I may have slightly exceeded my sugar intake for the day, but it was absolutely worth it. The Frappuccino was far richer and more soothing than I expected. It had such a smooth, comforting depth of flavor that genuinely surprised me in the best way. You can taste the purity and quality of their ingredients, and that is one of my favorite things about this place!
Their dessert display is breathtaking. Sheesh! From kataifi cheesecakes to beautiful trompe l’oeil fruit shaped cakes, fresh pastries, Dubai chocolate, and Khaliat Al Nahl honeycomb buns, everything looked like edible art. People were constantly coming in and out, and I even saw them sell out of a few items while I was there. That says a lot! It genuinely made me so happy to see so many people happy to be there!
This is easily becoming one of my favorite coffee shops! The atmosphere, the craftsmanship, the family hospitality, and the quality all come together in such a special way. If you’re looking for something elevated and truly unique, this is the place! I’m telling you go support local! You will not be disappointed!

Lovely Yemenis coffee shop. The service, ambient, staff, food, coffee and pastries are fanatics here. Highly recommend this place to coffee lovers and foodies in Peoria Illinois and Bloomington. I wish they were around 18 years ago when I used to live in Peoria.

Great addition to the Peoria area for coffe and desserts. Wide variety of selections to choose from. Little on the pricier side compared to local chains. Ambiance is nice. Coffees are splendid. Look forward to see what they can do with breakfast options.

The atmosphere is very elegant yet very welcoming. Everything is also very neat, which is a sign of a well run establishment. Waleed made me a Biscoff frappe and you can tell is was made with love. Mojo, who is in the photo below, served very fresh pastries and refreshers. Very nice staff overall.
It’s a very chill spot to hang out with friends and grab a drink. 10/10 experience. Will be back for sure. They are also open late during this month of Ramadan, which is a huge plus.
